Beatrice was our daughter's first grade teacher in Bella Coola. Mrs. Raymond was compassionate and dedicated, guiding her pupils to a high standard. Her enthusiasm was infectious.  She organized a "big" musical production complete with costumes and stage set. Parents were eager to assist in any way we could.  Bea even had an extra classroom set up with supplies and sewing machines for costume production. It was a heartwarming partnership.  

Another favourite memory is attending Remembrance Day services at Augsburg Church when Bea's strong and beautiful voice carried the congregation through singing of hymns.

Thank you Mrs. Raymond for nurturing our children, and their souls and ours.

Dear Langston, 
I am truly sorry to hear of the passing of your mother.  I was originally searching for Dario as he was a good friend of my daughter, Pamela Byrd when I came across your mother's obituary.  I so enjoyed my time in Bella Coola teaching at Nusatsum Elementary for 2 years.  I knew your mother well and she was a fun, energetic  teacher whom everyone respected.   My daughter died from breast cancer in 2004.  Every year, on her birthday ,I look through her writings and I found some on Bella Coola.  She mentioned that Dario was her first kiss and I wanted to get in touch him.  Sadly, I see that he passed away as well.

I am deeply saddened at the passing of my dear friend, Beatrice. 
I have known her for over fifty years. Her husband Stan, was my contemporary at College in Jamaica. I was so happy to meet up with him, here, in Vancouver,  and to later meet Beatrice.  Throughout their time in Bella Coola, our home was one the homes where  they stayed during their visits on  the summer breaks.  When they moved to the Lower Mainland, we spent lots of fun times at their homes,
Beatrice was kind and thoughtful. She also remembered the kindness she received and gave back, even more.  She never missed an opportunity to celebrate special occasions; birthdays, retirement, and celebrated her wedding anniversary three times. Her sons, Langston and Dario, were her pride and joy. She loved them and was very proud of them, and their achievements. She loved and cared for her extended family as well. Beatrice loved the  Lord.  Trinity Baptist  Church was  a special place for her, where she was very active in the Choir and other Church activities.  
She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. 
Rest in Eternal peace, friend.

It is with a sad heart, and sooo many good memories of Beatrice and her family, that our family receives this news.

We all have strong memories of the storytelling, laughter, music, sports, and wonderful friendship with ‘Bea’ and Stan and then Langston and Dario.

‘Mrs. Raymond’ was always happy and positive. Her love of music was only an expression of the joy that she felt and shared with anyone she came in contact with. She enjoyed the joy of other’s whether she was creating it or just being a part of things!

Know that we loved you and valued your presence and thoughts. You will be dearly missed and always remembered, with smiles on our faces and great memories in our minds.

Mrs Raymond was my grade 3 teacher and she was memorable.  Such enthusiasm about life and modelled a strong, confident woman.  Good memories of her and Stan as family friends.

Sending my deep sympathy to Langston and to Bea's friends as well. Bea was very kind to my son, taking him to the PNE every year along with Langston. I met her long ago at UBC and recall her lovely parties where my son and Langston devoured her delicious patties and raced around the student family housing while listening to rock steady music from Stan's collection. Bea made this food in the tiniest kitchen then and welcomed so many friends to their UBC student home in Catania Circle. Those were happy days! We stayed in touch through the years. So lovely to see these school photos posted of Bea's classes. To be a teacher of children is a high calling. Bea's influence lives on. My heartfelt condolences now to Langston who carries on the Raymond family values of kindness and generosity.
