Bernard “Bernie” Loewen passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, March 25 at Burnaby General Hospital with a close friend at his side. He was born in South Russia and in the mid 1920’s, emigrated to Saskatchewan with his parents and sister Lydia. He spent many years farming then moved to the Burnaby area in 1970 where he retired in 1984. Bernie was predeceased by his wife Frances in 1999. He will be fondly remembered by many friends and relatives, particularly sister-in-laws Brenda Newell and Mary Ann Greschuk (Bill), brother-in-law Al Shimnosky (Zan), friends Karen Kennedy and Sheri Pontellini of Vancouver, nieces Elaine Walker (Lionel) of Innisfail, Ruth Agrios (John) and Jack Brown (Joyce) of Edmonton. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Ocean View Burial Park.
