Bernarda passed away on Feb. 28, 2024 at Melville Hospice in South Surrey following a brief illness. She was born in Gerovo, Croatia on May 20, 1929 and moved to Zagreb as a young girl. She worked in a factory there where she met her future husband Martin. They married in December 1951 and the following year their son Steve was born.
In 1968 the family moved to Canada, settling in Edmonton and then a year later in Vancouver. In 1975 the family built a house in Burnaby and Bernarda lived there until her death. She worked for Storkcraft furniture factory for many years. She was an avid gardener and cook and enjoyed camping and fishing with her family.
She is survived by her son Steve (Linda), her beloved grandson Martin, her brother Branko, brother-in-law Marijan (Anna) and sisters-in-law Stefica and Ljubica, niece Gordana (Mike) and son A.J, nephew Robert (Debbie) and sons Treyce and Ryder. She was predeceased by her husband Martin in 2011 and her brother Pepo in 2013.
