It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carmelo Marchiafava. Carmelo was born in Sicily, Italy. He immigrated to Canada in 1966 and met and married his soul-mate, Giovanna in February 1969. They had three beautiful children: Mariagina (Andrew), Anna (Dave), and Gerry (Unjali), and three grandchildren: Giancarlo, Luca, and Nadia who were the joy of his life. He dedicated his life to providing for his family. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Carmelo fought a long, hard battle with cancer over the last six years. 'Don't cry' he would say, 'What is meant to be, will be.' A celebration of Carmelo's life will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 24th at St. Francis of Assisi, 2025 Napier St. Vancouver, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carmelo's memory to the BC Cancer Society or Lion's Gate Hospital Palliative Care. Interment to follow at Ocean View Burial Park, Burnaby, BC.
