Catherine Therese Mulhern

Mulhern, Therese passed away July 29, 2026. She was predeceased by her parents, Archibald and Lilian McEachern, her husband Kevin, her grandson Shamus, and 7 of her 8 siblings Monica, Mary, Colleen, Bernard, Johnny, Des and Tommy. She is survived by her children, Shannon (Chris), Noel (Yan Gin), Mary Ann, Patricia, John (Mia), Kevin, her grandchildren, Katie, James, Charlotte, Leah and Tessa, her sister Annmarie, a multitude of nephews and nieces, Georgina and her best friend Rhoda.

Mom was born on January 31, 1935 at St. Paul’s hospital in Vancouver. She attended Little Flower Academy for grades one and two before moving to Queen Alexander near her family home on Glenn Street. Mom continued at St. Anne’s in New Westminster and finished high school at Mission High. After completing one year at Notre Dame College in Nelson, she went into nursing at St. Paul’s hospital, earning her RN. Mom worked in nursing in Vancouver, she completed a post grad program in surgical nursing at McGill University Hospital in Montreal, in and then worked in Portland while Dad completed his education.

Mom’s faith was very important to her. She was born and raised Catholic, as were all her children. She was an active parent volunteer at both Vancouver College and Little Flower Academy. She often turned to The Blessed Virgin in times of need.

Mom was an original fashionista. She was well known for her shoe and hat collection.

Her dancing abilities were renowned. She grew up in a house where the carpet was rolled back and everybody danced. At weddings, Mom and Dad could clear the dance floor as people watched their ballroom dancing in awe. During the 90’s, Mom discovered line-dancing. Again, she was outstanding. Mom then used her sense of rhythm when she took up paddling in her 70’s. She was a member of the False Creek Grand Dragons who went on to beat teams who were decades younger. You should have seen the guns on her.

Mom was smart. She returned to school in the late 80’s by refreshing her nursing skills at BCIT. She practiced her skills at Louie Brier, which years later became her final home. (We cannot thank enough the team of professionals there who supported her and the family during her final journey.)

Mom had a strong sense of humour which she passed down to her children. She also knew what she liked and what she didn’t like. She was a generous person whether it be to family or complete strangers. Mom will be fondly remembered for all these things.
