Chi Sing was born in Hoiping, Guangzhou, China on June 14 1931, the youngest of three siblings.
He is survived by wife Grace Gray Chang, son Allan (Clara), daughters, Melanie and Polly (Jordan) and 4 grandchildren, Chelsea, Jamieson, Natalie, and Michael.
He began his career at CAT Airlines in Taiwan in 1949 and worked for 20 years before emigrating with his wife and three children to Vancouver, Canada in July 1970. As an aircraft mechanic, he worked for another 22 years at CP Air/Wardair/Air Canada before retiring in 1995.
Chi Sing will always be remembered for his kindness, generous spirit and sociability. His joy was indulging in big Chinese meals with loved ones. He took pride in having the most meticulous lawn in the neighbourhood and during his retirement, he rarely deviated from his 5:30am morning strolls around Queen Elizabeth Park. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to VGH and UBC Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice, in memory of Charley Chi Sing Kwan, would be much appreciated.
