

(January 6, 1938 – May 16, 2023)
Beloved son, brother, uncle and grand-uncle, Mr. Chi Shum Watt was born on January 6, 1938, in Hong Kong to father, Koi Wing Wat and mother, So Man Yip.
He is survived by his older brothers Alex Chi Kin Watt (Maria) and James Chi Yan Watt (Sabine), and younger sister Faith Ho (Michael) as well as his nieces Virginia Fong (Francis), Justine (Scott) and Helen Watt, and Sarah Ho (Chris), and his nephews Anthony (Tony) Watt and Daniel Ho (Clara).
After graduating from the University of Hong Kong, Chi Shum began a career as a popular and well-respected secondary school teacher.
In the late 1960s Chi Shum made the decision to study abroad in Canada. He graduated from the University of Toronto, completing his Ph.D. in Physics. It was then that he brought his mother to join him and his siblings in Vancouver where he settled for the remainder of his life.
At this juncture, Chi Shum changed careers to become a certified general accountant. He naturally excelled at his work and built a successful practice with many clients becoming lifelong friends.
After retirement, Chi Shum made time for his many interests. Greatest among these, was an insatiable appetite for books and learning. He furthered his interest in spiritual life at Heather Bible Chapel. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sharing his travel adventures and love for diverse cuisines.
Chi Shum had a deep love for Chinese culture and made a concerted effort to preserve it through his philanthropic projects. To this end, he supported many educational, cultural and historical projects.
Chi Shum passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and good friends on May 16, 2023. He will always be fondly remembered for his humble, generous, and gentle nature. His was indeed, a life of purpose, service and devotion to family.
