Chong Hoy Lum, age 97, passed away on September 7, 2026 in Vancouver, BC. Born in Guangdong (Kwangtung), China on May 22, 1929, he lived a full life defined by dedication, warmth, and an unwavering devotion to those he loved.
A remarkably hard worker, Chong Hoy poured his heart into ensuring his family always had the very best. Nothing brought him greater joy than family celebrations; he was happiest when surrounded by the lively hum of chit-chat and the sound of shared laughter filling the room. In his retirement years, he could often be found taking long walks through the neighborhood, greeting everyone along the way, or meticulously tending to his lawn to try to make it look like a pristine golf course.
Above all, Chong Hoy leaves behind a lasting message for those he cherished most: "Be Happy, Healthy and Enjoy Life."
Chong Hoy is survived by his loving wife, Lai Chun; his 3 sons and 5 daughters; 18 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his eldest daughter.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and friends. May he rest in eternal peace.
