Chung Yau Shum

Born on 17th August 1930, Chung Yau Shum was 93 years old and lived a rich and fulfilling life. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen Suk Ngan. Chung Yau and Helen were married on October 18th, 1958. After many happy years in Hong Kong, they moved to Canada in 1993 to continue their delightful life journey.

Chung Yau was a loving husband, devoted Christian, and caring educator whose kindness knew no bounds. Whether offering a listening ear, a helping hand, or guidance, his compassion touched countless lives. His words were always truthful and sincere. His influence and legacy will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rest in peace in God’s hand, Chung Yau will be missed by his wife, his family and many others. Your attendance at his memorial service is very much welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for your kind words, love, support, and prayers.

Chung Yau Shum will be remembered at Ocean View Funeral Home & Chapel, 4000 Imperial St, Burnaby.

Visitation: Wednesday, July 17th, 2024, from 7pm to 9pm.

Funeral Service: Thursday, July 18th, 2024, from 10:30am to 11:30am.

Graveside Service: Thursday, July 18th, 2024, from noon to 1pm.

Reception Lunch: Thursday, July 18th, 2024, from 1pm at Red Star Seafood Chinese Restaurant (8298 Granville Street, Vancouver, BC).

In lieu of flowers, if you wish to make a donation, the family will accept cash donations during the funeral service. The money will be donated to the church that Chung Yau attended, in keeping with his lifelong commitment to helping others.
