I sat in silence for a long time. is this some sort of dream or movie. Today i decided to search for a long lost friend ' Connie Sanders who later married her sweetheart ( partly Italian)
 we stayed friends till the children started arriving'” then the unexpected happened. I lost contact.. Today it occurred to me i should try again and remember Ricks name Nori. the result has made me so very sad.
 Connie was my pen pal for years. she was such a wonderful person. I always dreamt of meeting her some day.
 I never got to say goodbye. May her soul rest in perfect peace. RICK, AND THE CHILDREN- Please accept my deepest condolence.

Our family would like to extend our heartfelt sympathy for your loss. Connie was always so full of energy, she lived each day to the fullest. I have many fond menories of the time together in the Reckitt Calgary office. I can honestly say these wasn't one day that went by that we didn't have a laugh about something. She had a wonderful way of finding humour in every aspect of life! She will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Our thoughts are with you all.

My name is Anthony De Souza and that is how we at ING Insurance remember our Dear Connie.
 
Connie joined ING Insurance in 1996 in our Alberta office before moving to our Vancouver office in Sept 2002 as our '˜Admin. Assistant'. At the time, we were in the process of a '˜big move' and an acquisition. This opened up a nice position for Connie in our Admin.Dept. 

However, adjusting to a new life here for this 'Prairie Girl' was difficult. She missed her 'Calgary group of friends, her work colleagues and her flames. During this period here, she developed a strong relationship with her Admin Supervisor '˜Eileen', who warmly took her under her wings, and was always there for her, constantly reassuring Connie that: 'Things will get better ' give it time'. This bond & friendship grew and soon, Connie would refer to her as her 'ING Mum' & often on Friday after work, they would share a glass of wine. In case you are wondering'¦It was off premises.
 
On one afternoon, when we still had our office downtown, Connie went for a walk down to the harbour at lunch time'¦and was so upset to see someone's dog struggling to get to the water's edge. After trying to get passers-by to help her '˜save the dog', she was gently reminded by a bystander that in fact it was a seal and belonged in the water. 

Over time, she soon found her own niche and she finally confided to her ING Mum saying: 'I have come to tell you that I feel at home in Vancouver'. With her warm, loving personality, she loved being around people and soon made many friends.
 If you were having a bad day, you just had to stop by her desk or bump into her'¦ but it depended on what Connie you would run into'¦.because she loved to change her hairstyle and hair colour. With her wild sense of humour, her laugh '¦& yes, '˜her witty comments', you could not help but laugh yourself'¦and walk away feeling better. 

In the office, she became a fantastic team player and accepted any challenges with great enthusiasm. What we remember most was the countless hours of her own time that she spent helping others and especially planning and organizing numerous ING and broker events'¦.From her involvement with Habitat for Humanity, to planning our big Christmas party, our bowling & baseball events'¦among others.
 You could always count on her. WORK HARD & PLAY HARD WAS HER MOTTO! In giving of herself to others, what mattered the most to Connie was creating an atmosphere of fun in and out of the office'¦and in that regard, she succeeded. 

She soon became our '˜Spreadsheet Queen' because everything she was involved in, you knew that a spreadsheet would follow with instructions. She had great ideas and an inner sense of '˜what was right' and '˜what was wrong'. She also set very high goals for herself and would be disappointed if things did not unfold as she had planned'¦but if you knew Connie, she was no quitter'¦ she would soon pick herself up and was ready for the next challenge. 

At events, if you knew how to talk to her just right'¦. you could sometimes walk away with an '˜extra wine ticket'. Come to think about it, I still have 1 ticket that I did not use'¦ it does not have an expiry date'¦so Connie, I'm saving this one for our next get-together'¦
 
One day, she wanted to surprise the entire office and rented a machine to make hot chocolates for everyone. It was quite the surprise for us because suddenly all the computers on one side of the office went down'¦.She blew the fuses!! I don't think she realized the magnitude of what she did'¦ Panic, she did'¦but all we remember her yelling was 'I have no power, I need power'¦How will I make my hot chocolates! ''¦. 

In 2006, she took on the task as 'Personal Lines Systems Trainer', something she wanted to do for a long time. She worked diligently and very hard to create a happy environment for her students. Sadly, she had not been in this role for long when she had to take a leave of absence to look after her health'¦. but throughout this period, she kept in touch with all her ING family of friends both present & past'¦ and always stayed '˜upbeat and positive' about her struggles and what she was going through. 

There was a little boy who flew a kite so high that it soared into some low-flying clouds. A passer-by asked the boy how he knew the kite was still in the sky. The boy looked and told the inquisitor to put his hand on the string and feel the pull of the unseen kite'¦.
 Rick, Joel, Daniel'¦ the days ahead will not be easy'¦. and when the winds of uncertainty and despair are blowing, feel Connie's gentle tug and warm embrace'¦and hear her gentle voice saying: 'Do not be afraid, do not let go'¦ I am still with you and all will be well!'
 
Connie, We were lucky and blessed to have had you as our friend and we will miss your smile, hugs, voice and laughter'¦. You touched each of our hearts in a special way and are reminding us today of something important: 

There is more joy in giving and making others happy.
 Live a life of readiness and learn from me. Reconcile & reach out to that special someone you have been avoiding '¦for Time and life are not to be taken for granted.
 
Connie, we thank God for sending you into our lives'¦and we trust in his mercy and compassion.

Life brings tears,
 smiles and memories.
 The tears dry,
 the smile fades,
 but the memories live on forever.
 
Here are some of my memories of Connie:
 
I did not know Connie as a child. I did not know Connie in school. I did not know Connie in Calgary. I did not work with Connie or Rick. I don't live next door to the Nori's. My children do not know Danielle and Joel. I knew Connie through golf. Specifically, through a women's golf group that I organize called the GIGIs. G-I-G-I. GODESESS IN GOLF INC. We play golf every Thursday evening after work from April until October. You get to know someone when you see them every week for 6 months and don't forget the drinking and eating after the 9 holes of golf.
 
I first met Connie at a party, we all know how much Connie loved parties. Apparently, I met Rick at the same party ' but don't remember him. Connie then started golfing with the GIGIs in April of 2004 . She fit in instantly as she possessed all those qualities that are important to the GIGI golf group: wit, humor, love of fun, fondness for swearing and yes ' she was a good golfer also. Connie had drive and Connie had the Ping. She was the first of us GIGIs to get the giant headed club. What is interesting is that when Connie and Rick went for their club fitting at Westwood Plateau ' the golf pro suggested that although he could fit Connie for her club ' he suggested that Rick take some lessons first!
 
As we all know ' Connie was a bit of a prankster. When we first met Connie, she was an Event coordinator with ING and it showed in the pranks she liked to play at the golf course. I remember one evening while golfing at Westwood Plateau, being approached by the course marshal and told that I would have to leave the course for excessive swearing on the course. The group behind us, which Connie was part of, had complained, I was told. After quickly considering my options ' I mean this was one night that I actually had not been swearing ' I took another look at the golf marshal and realized that he was quite young and looked an awful lot like Rick. Yes, it was Connie and Rick's son Joel, whom I hadn't met and who worked up at Westwood Plateau. His Mom had put him up to it. Luckily, I was allowed to stay.
 
Another time Connie was in possession of an exploding golf ball ' looks just like a golf ball but explodes on impact. She was patient and waited just for the right time and picked on one of the nicest of her fellow GIGI golfers but one who was struggling with her game. 'Alice', Connie says ' 'I have just the thing that will help your golf game ' a special golf ball'. Alice, eager to try anything, tees it up and sure enough the ball explodes on impact. Connie thinks it's hilarious, Alice thinks it's hilarious ' we all think it's hilarious. Well, it didn't help Alice's game but it sure helped her attitude.
 
Not only was Connie a prankster but she was also a bit of a daredevil. One especially hot summer evening golfing in North Van at the Northlands golf course we had just finished drinking a bucket of beer ' you know they fill the bucket up with bottles of your choice of beer. I was admiring the empty bucket ' innocently thinking it would be nice to have and Connie says 'take it'. Well, I couldn't do that but I said to Connie ' 'I dare you to'. Big mistake. She said, 'I'll just carry it out to the front desk and see if they stop me. If they don't I'll just give it back.' Well, of course they didn't stop her and of course she didn't stop ' all the way to her car. So, if anyone here today works at Northlands ' sorry about that. Please see Rick later ' he owes you a bucket.
 
Rick and I were talking recently about how Connie was just a big kid. I tend to have this same problem. And like any kids we fought over things. In golf we used to fight over the big red wine glasses at Burnaby Mt golf course. At first there were two of them and our waiter would always saved one for me and one for Connie. Eventually, there was only one big wine glass. Connie would try to get to the 19th hole before me and be sure to get the giant red wine glass. Then I would come in and ask for a glass of red wine in the 'big' glass not realizing that she already had it. I can see her now ' sitting there quietly sipping her wine but watching me out of the corner of her eye to see my reaction. She was very pleased with herself, while I drank from the crappy little glass. I believe that the restaurant, like any good parent, quietly smashed the remaining big glass so Connie and I wouldn't be fighting over it anymore.
 
Connie was also an excellent seamstress. The GIGIs have a specific colour scheme ' light blue/dark blue. If you look around today you may see some of us with our GIGI jackets on in honor of Connie. Connie tracked down some material in this colour scheme and then made all of her fellow GIGIs mini golf bags in these colors. You use these smaller bags when you only need a few clubs. Somehow she did this between chemo treatments and feeling sick in order to have them ready for our GIGI year end wind-up. They were all ready for us ' 20 of them ' she even individually autographed each one. Mine says 'chief'. She used to call me 'Chief'. Then to top it off, the following spring she made us attachments for our balls. Thank-you Connie. We will think of you when we use these bags.
 
In 2006 Connie moved from Event Planner to trainer at ING and of course her change in job meant that she also attempted to train her fellow golfers.
 
Here are some things I learned from Connie:
 
'¢ Numerous Cancer terms and treatments ' she kept us all informed through her 2 years with Cancer. These are terms I hope to never hear again.
 '¢ Facebook ' I still suck at it ' but all I know ' Connie taught me. Not too long ago she was still trying to teach me.
 '¢ In her final week when I was visiting Connie, one snowy day at Royal Columbia ' she was all dolled up ' including make-up. She showed me a new way to put on Mascara ' I know it's hard to tell from way down there ' but my lashes look fabulous.
 '¢ The Calgary method of disposing of empties after a party aka Calgary Trailer Park Trash trend. Now this is an interesting one as I know a lot of folks from Calgary are here ' so maybe you can let me know later if Connie was just pulling my leg or not. I host an annual Golf tournament called the MacDermott Open that is neither serious nor taken seriously. We play an easy round of golf and head back to my place for the important part ' food and drink. The first time that Connie partakes in the MacDermott Open, we are eating, drinking on my back porch and as the night progressed, bottles were becoming empty, someone asked me what to do with the empties. Connie said 'I'll show you what we do with them in Calgary' and proceeds to toss them over the deck railing onto the lawn below. Well, not to be out done by Albertans, especially Calgarians ' the rest of us tossed all of our empties onto my lawn also. By the end of the evening the lawn was covered with empty beers cans and wine bottles. My teenage daughters came home and wondered'¦ just who was the teenager. I left them on my lawn for a few days cause it made me laugh whenever I saw them.
 '¢ I hate to say it, there was one thing I just could not learn from Connie ' Cantonese. Connie was teaching herself Cantonese and she tried to teach us a few words in Cantonese also ' we just couldn't learn. I have been working hard and have finally learned one thing in Cantonese ' Die ga ho why nim Connie. (We will really miss you Connie)
 
'¢ Finally ' I learned how much Connie loved her family ' Rick, Danielle and Joel. She had great pride in all of you. To you and all of us who knew Connie ' she was, and always will be a true Goddess.

I would like to thank our many friends and family and generosity during this difficult time for my children, Joel and Danielle, myself and our extended families. There are so many people that I would like to thank but the list is too long and Connie would probably say 'ya, ya, get on with it' so I would like to personally thank the following people;
 Bev Pilon ' Connie considered you a close friend. Thank you so much for spending time with Connie and Judy Wong on her last vacation in Scottsdale- Connie sure looked forward to that trip. As well as coming out to see us during Connie's last days. I can see why Connie liked you so much ' I cannot begin to thank you enough for the help you gave me and my family that week and will always keep your friendship dear to our hearts.
 Lina and Claudio Urbani ' Thank you for being there for us and in helping us plan this celebration' your smiling faces and support throughout this has helped me and the kids laugh once and awhile.
 Arlene Rocha, Judy Antunes, and Meg Cooney for helping Danielle with the Music and Power Point Presentation.

 Phil and Tammy Lum ' Connie and I were truly amazed by your support and caring in the last 3 months. Connie always enjoyed your upbeat visits at the hospital Tammy. Phil, thank you so much for looking after the hockey team and insuring Danielle never missed a game or practice during the past 2 months. Thanks you!
 Thank you to all that are participating in Connie's Celebration today through scripture, tributes, song and music.
 Lastly, thank you to all who have attended today' Connie would have been truly honoured by all of this.
 Eulogy
 Connie was born and grew up in Lethbridge Alberta. She attended Wilson Junior High School where she played baseball. It was here Connie started to show her leadership qualities and managed the Basketball team in Grade 9. She loved to socialize and had a close knit circle of friends. Her cousin and best friend Brenda while growing up says 'Where do we begin to talk about Connie, some people go through their day to day activities without anything remarkable happening, with Connie, everyday was an adventure'. Connie went onto Winston High School where she graduated in 1981. It was there where she developed her love for sewing.
 While in high school, she also began her first job at Queen's Donuts where she worked her friend, Corrine's whose dad owned the shop. She thought this was great, getting paid to decorate donuts, life was good. Of course being Connie, sprinkles and tasty icing got boring after a while. One day while working alone with Corrine they started fooling around. Sure, it was all innocent to begin with, but Connie threw a donut at Corrine, Corrine retaliated by throwing some dough at Connie. Connie threw some icing at Corrine; Corrine scooped up some flour and got Connie square in the face. Just then the back door opens up and the owner walked in, both girls were covered in donut mixings and the place was a mess. Needless to say they both got fired, after they cleaned up the mess of course. Having connections, they were both re-hired the next day.
 Although Connie was perfect in many ways, driving was a challenge for her in her early years ' one afternoon Connie was taking a driving lesson from a friend. Again for most people this is an activity that comes and goes without much fanfare, not for Connie though. While hanging out with friends after school, it was decided that Connie should have a driving lesson since she had her learners but not much actual driving experience. So into the car she went and after just one block she was asked to make a left hand turn, which she did very successfully. Unfortunately she forgot to let go of the steering wheel and kept going in a semi circle which took her right through the chain link fence into the high school fence. Connie's driving abilities were the talk of the school for quite a while. Talk about leaving your mark in high school.
 After high school Connie moved to Calgary. Connie was never one to let the grass grow under her feet and liked to keep very active. After work she would often go for a jog or go to the gym. Connie enjoyed going on ski trips. Whitefish Montana was a favourite destination. She worked at Sulpetro and later at Alberta and Southern Gas. Connie met so many good friends during these years and her circle of friends grew enormously as she began attending ski trips, joining soccer and volleyball teams as well as other social events. Everyone that met Connie loved her. Her energy and fun loving attitude was addicting.
 Connie and I met while house boating in the Shuswap in June 1987. I still remember the day I met her ' it was true fate as I was there as I was a last minute fill-in for someone who couldn't go. Connie and I really hit it off and spent time talking into the wee hours of the morning. We had a great weekend getting to know one another ' lots of laughs and lots of fun. When the weekend ended, Connie asked me if we would see one another again. So we exchanged numbers and Connie proceeded on to vacation out in Vancouver with her friends. When Connie returned from her vacation, she remembered that I was camping in Pine Lake, Alberta and she surprised me by driving out with her friend Karen to see me.
 We were camping, sitting around having a beer when she showed up. She got out of the car and I yelled at her about her car and she said, 'Ya ya, I'll park it later'. For those of you who know Connie well, how many times did you hear that ' she always embraced the moment and didn't worry about the small stuff. I said 'no!' it's rolling away. We all jumped up and stopped the car from rolling down the hill. At which time Karen turned to me and said 'You've really messed this girl up! ' she can't stop talking about you'. And so our journey began.
 During our courtship, I would always ask her if she wanted to go out to a movie or something like that but we always ended up talking for hours and just enjoyed each other's company ' needless to say, she was a cheap date. I will miss my conversations with Connie the most. We did finally go to a movie four months later' I think it was two dollar Tuesdays.
 In November 1987 we took a trip to Banff for our engagement. We went out for dinner and Connie suspected something was up. After dinner I noticed her disappointment when nothing happened. We went back to our hotel room where I had hidden a bottle of champagne and we had a drink. I had hid the engagement ring in her champagne glass but she didn't see it. Still a little upset that she had expected me to propose, she took a big drink and almost drank the ring when I yelled at her to stop ' she noticed the ring in the glass. She started to cry and I proposed.
 We had a simply wedding in true Italian fashion ' A seven course meal and flaming sambuccas highlighted that May 28th, 1988 'Simple Italian Wedding' I think this is where Connie learned her awesome organizational and planning skills ' dealing with cultural and language barriers, She always compared our wedding to the movie, 'My big Fat Greek Wedding'
 Our marriage was great ' we were best friends ' we each had an open book and always knew how each other felt. Connie was so instrumental in encouraging me to expand my horizons and gave me such confidence in myself. She taught our kids the same thing ' to just do our best. This was a true gift that Connie had ' she always did that ' working in the background and ensuring others had as much fun and success as possible. Looking through our photos, there are so many things you do not see of her because Connie was always behind the camera.
 In May of 1989, we were expecting our first child ' Joel. Two weeks prior to the due date, The Flames won the Stanley Cup. Having a pregnant designated driver was great. Our friends piled into the car and we drove down to Electric Avenue where we sat Connie at a bus stop with 2 of Calgary's finest officers while the rest of us whooped it up in the crowd (Connie would probably say that she at least saw her Flames win a Stanley Cup in her lifetime ' Sorry Canuck fans). In May of 1992, the first girl born was into the Nori clan ' this made Danielle an insist hit with her Nona.
 There were so many things that Connie did for Joel and Danielle ' having so much fun growing up and so many special moments. Being married to Connie made it like I had 3 kids at home. I too became a child during family events and cherish all the good times that our children have given Connie and me. On Christmas Eves, she would have someone outside ringing Santa's bells and the kids thought Santa Claus was coming. The kids would scurry to bed so Santa wouldn't pass them by. Joel and Danielle still talk about how scared they were if they didn't get to bed in time. Santa, in this case Connie, sometimes had a glass or 2 of wine which caused us problems locating presents that were hidden in really good hiding spots(she called them that) that not even Connie could find them. We sometimes were up until the wee hours finding last minute stocking stuffers to create that special moment for the children the next morning. At Easter, bunny footprints, formed with a cotton ball and baking powder would magically appear all over the house so the kids knew that the Easter bunny had come. At every event she always thought about every detail and ensured everybody had a great and memorable time. Block parties were a regular occurrence with the Nori's fire pit front and centre ' Connie loved them so we had them often with our Sandringham neighbours in Calgary.
 While being a fulltime mom, Connie also worked part time at Marlin Travel in 1992 where she worked on a special project and coordinated all of the soldier's leave of absences from the Gulf War. She felt so proud of her role and what it meant to these soldiers to spend time with their families. Connie went on to work at Reckitt and Colman in 1994 and ING Insurance in 1999 where she met some fantastic people and great friends. At ING ,she worked as an administrator and planned golf tournaments, staff parties and all meetings.
 After a great life in Calgary where met some of our best friends, we moved to the lower mainland in 2002 to pursue my career. She was able to continue to work for ING in Vancouver. We bought a home in Coquitlam and started our new lives with new adventures. It was here that our love for each other flourished even more and we developed a strong family bond. We introduced the fire pit parties to our new neighbours our first New Year's Day and It took no time for us to make good friends ' Especially Connie. She made so many good friends in her Goddess in Golf Inc ' known simply as the Gigi's. This group made Connie very happy ' it also made a better golfer. She was sure proud of her new Ping driver. Friends are God's ways of taking care of us. John Preston, Connie's former boss here in Vancouver, in one of the online tributes said 'Often we hear the expression '¦'The Good Lord '˜broke the mold' in reference to a unique person'¦in Connie's case, it fit perfectly.
 Connie loved spending time at our place at 'The Glen' in Washington State ' Happy hour usually began at noon and ended around the fire pit ' yes, at the Nori's in the evenings. Closer to home, lLong walks with Baxter in Mundy Park or on the beach at Bunsen Lake with our friends Mario, Judy, Bear and Max were common place.
 After spending 21 years with my best friend Connie, there are so many memories and stories that we could go on forever ' she did so much. I know that Joel, Danielle and I will miss her dearly. It will be these fond memories of Connie that will keep her forever in our hearts and we will continue to live life for today and not tomorrow or yesterday as she would want us to. You will be with us every step of the way Connie!
 It has been really hard for me to see Connie battle breast cancer over the last 22 months and I know that we all felt her pain but she still found it in her to show us the strength and courage to once again life live to its fullest and continue to enjoy each other's love. ' She always had that smile and witty comment. The past few weeks gave us an opportunity to share some stories and remind each other exactly how we felt about each other. On one occasion, she appologized to me and said ' I am sorry for what you will go though when I am gone. This statement chokes me up every time I think about it. Connie was always a step ahead of the game ' She knew that her pain was nowhere near what we would all feel today. I am so blessed to have known this special person and have her instil her charteristics in our children. I promised her that I would always love and laugh with the children as we have in the past and remember the small details to make every day and occasion a special one.
 Although it was so hard to see Connie leave us, the pain we felt watching her struggle, went away when she took her last breath. I know that the kids and I feel at peace that Connie is at rest now and with God and that she and God will look after us. God bless you Connie, my friend forever and for being the best mom 2 children could ask for. Rest in peace my sweet angel!
 I wrote this poem for you Connie.
 We took our vows together
 We said, 'Till death do us part',
 But when God came and took your hand
 My whole world fell apart.
 No one knows the heartache
 I try so hard to hide,
 Only God knows how many times
 I've broken down and cried.
 When I look back upon our lives
 One of the things that makes me glad,
 That you chose me to share with you
 The precious years we had.

It is so hard to say good bye when its something you don't want to do. My name is Arlene Rocha and I was very blessed to have Connie Nori come into my life 6 years ago. And in that time she truly became one of my dearest and most cherished friends. I wanted to say a few words to share how much she truly meant to me in my life. My mind was flooded with words, Organized, Creative, funny, loyal, kind, supportive and so many more. However the one word that kept coming back to me was loving. 

Connie was special character, a person I could not help wanting to be around. We were kind of thrown together back at ING. Some how I was roped into being the entire social committee and Eileen Robinson was kind enough to rope Connie in as well. Connie had said she would only help out with tracking the funds but that is it. Anyone who knows Connie knows that would not be the case because she loved to organize and plan events and she was great at it. The two of us just clicked instantly and we seemed to compliment each other. One of us would bring up and idea and then the other would add to it until it snow balled in to an event. Christmas Parties, boat cruises, baseball tournaments, hot cocoa cart and some many others. We laughed so much. It is a joy to look back at those memories and just see her face in my mind and be thankful for all the time we spent together. When I left ING I remember saying to her. What am I going to do without my Connie. She told me don't worry you are going to be great, I believe in you and I will always be around and she was.
 
Connie not only welcomed me as her work colleague but she opened her life to me as her friend. I was often welcomed at her home. I was lucky enough to get to know Rick and see the beautiful relationship they had and seeing what marrying your best friend must be like. Her kids, Joel and Danielle are also such characters, with similar traits to their mother. Joel can often make me laugh out loud with his sense of humor just like his mother could. Danielle is as creative and organized as her mother was.
 
Every year on my birthday I could count on Connie to give me four sleeves of pink golf balls because she knew I would need them, since I most likely lost the last ones in a water hazard on the golf course. She was a great golfer and I remember the sound her driver would make when she would nail one of those golf balls. I only have one sleeve of those golf balls left and I am going to cherish them. On her birthday we would go for Dim Sum which she loved. She was always the one to order '¦ In Chinese and she would always ask for the hot sauce but it had to be in the paste form. So many lunches, so many dinners so many visits but still it was not enough time spent with my friend. I will never look at shrimp dumpling without thinking of Connie.
 
Some people share a friendship lasting 50 years and in all that time they may not have laughed and shared and cared for a friend as much as have shared and laughed and cared for my friend Connie in these last 6 years. I regret that life often got so busy and other things seemed to become so important and they kept me from calling more often or stopping by more. When Connie told me she was sick, over Dim Sum I never thought it would get the best of her because she was Connie. She was tough, and the strongest person I knew. She was never afraid to say what needed to be said and do what needed to be done. I would ask how she was and she always told me she was doing well. When I would see her she would be out gardening, or working on a new project, she seemed indestructible. I know now she didn't want anyone to worry, she always was thinking of others. It was not until our last visit the day she went to hospital for the last time that I realized, she is so sick. We cried that day, we remembered and we laughed. I listened, and now I cherish that moment spent in her livingroom on that couch and I am thankful for it, 

In this celebration of Connie's life I want to share what knowing Connie and seeing her fight this battle has taught me. Work Hard, Play often, love like the end is near, because when the end is near it is those you have loved that will see you through to the other side. And for those who are left behind it will be your love that will get us through until we see you wonderful smiling face again.

I really did not know Connie very well. I first met her at Aunt Lorna's when at first Connie was taking upgrading courses at BCIT and later following those harrowing trips after Cancer ClinicTreatments. During these encounters we indeed had lots of laughs. As everyone has said Connnie was a very up-beat special girl. I commend her for the positive attitude she exuded to all. I understand her passing will leave a huge void in your lives but I also feel over time you will all cope as you seem like a very connected and loving family. Today at the funeral, hearing person after person speak, it was overwhelming, but true to the way Connie lived her life and touched so many people.

I will always remember Connie as a joyful, warm person who made others feel at ease. As a young kid, I remember looking forward to seeing her at family gatherings and hearing her funny stories. We last saw her in Victoria at my brother's wedding this past August, and she still had such power to bring laughter to the room. What a lady.

I remember Connie as one of those people who you want to be around ' full of energy, intelligence and sarcastic wicked humour. Yes, she teased me alot and I gave it back and she always laughed. From bugging me about wearing my goalie sox (even when it was obvious I was wearing them and following the rules) to bugging me about being a 'college girl':: :: one day I was sitting in the dressing room and reading a newspaper on the bench ' she walked in and said 'oh, wow, look at the college girl sitting there reading a newpaper.' Of course, I said hey, it's the 'Hockey News'. I also remember the team hockey trip>:::: I was waiting for a long time for our team to go on a road trip together and finally a trip was arranged (Connie did a lot of that organizing of course) ' it was all set up and we were going to Victoria to play some games & I was excited. Then my mom pointed out that it was the same weekend that I was going to Europe with my school for a few weeks =- I was crushed and wanted instead to go with my team to Victoria but my mom said no. And of course Connie said oh poor you, Alayna, you HAVE to go to Europe you poor thing. Her humour matched our team's: for the team trip, we put a picture of my head on a stick so I could sorta be in Victoria with them and they took pictures of me on the ice and in the hot tub. I did the same, and took a picture of my team to Europe and took pictures of them in front of the Basillica and Colleseum and Buckingham Palace. Connie really laughed at all of this. So I was there on the team trip in spirit and they were with me in Europe in spirit. Now it's Connie's turn to be with us in spirit. I think she would be happy that we are remembering the good times. She was amazing and anyone who knew her is going to miss her alot.

I am Connie's cousin. Uncle Dude and my Mom (Zola Cardwell nee Sanders) were brother and sister. I have not seen Connie for many years. I do, however, remember Connie from younger years when our families would visit either in Lethbridge or at our family farm (Cardston). What I do remember from our childhood about Connie would be her extremely bubbly and positive personality. My Mom says she still carried that wonderful trait into her adulthood.

Although many friends and family gathering, and celebrating Connie's life today may not be aware, Connie was instrumental in the launch and continuation of an annual and highly successful Calgary-based charity golf tournament. 

As event patron Jim Sinclair fondly remembers, ' '¦ Connie always brought a strong measure of competence, humour, conviction, and highly positive attitude into each day'¦ in short, she made a real difference to our group and those around her. Without Connie's consistent and tireless volunteer efforts, our tournament committee would have been doomed, or worse. Fortunately, we did have Connie on our team. 

In working with out group, Connie's was always looking for a laugh. . . and she got them. She also knew when and how to get serious though, when it came to giving back to the community. Through Connie's volunter efforts, the Canadian Cancer Society has been the principal recipient of tournament proceeds in excess of $350,000 to date'¦' 

The event organizers will be dedicating this 15th-year event in Connie's cherished memory and awarding future tournament winners with the Connie Nori memorial trophy. She was a very special person to us and all that knew her.

Connie was a part of our golf group and always up for fun times, including dressing up for special events (whether it be cowgirl outfits or Scottish tartans!). I will miss her humour and laugh. My sympathies to Rick, Joel and Danielle.

I was honored to become close to Connie in her final months after knowing her through hockey for the past few years. Connie was a genuinely funny person, right up to her final days. She has a zest for life and huge love for her husband Rocco (yes, Rick she told me) and for her two kids. She told me the funny story of how she met the man who was her best friend and husband. I held her Christmas day for a couple of hrs. while she cried and told me how much she was worried about you all and how much she loved you and how mad she was with cancer! We talked about her 'little man' too. Connie was a great person inside and out and will be forever in our hearts and deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to have met her and gotten to know her. If I can have all her energy and compassion for others and her positive outlook on life then I feel I will have achieved something. She was always asking how the 'team' was doing at games and still had her opinion on how things could be changed to win the next one! I know she will be watching over the 3 of you and Baxter and wishing you all great things with lots of love. And missing you greatly. But, know that you were all loved as much as that 5?2 little woman could possibly love'¦more like she was 6?2! I am honored for her to have called me her honorary sister and that I was able to transport her to Surrey and be with her as much as I was. She will be missed but forever in my heart and never forgotten.

Tears and sorrow overflow our usually joyous and cheerful eyes. Not only have we lost a very unique individual in our lives, but we've also lost a friend. Connie was quite the cheerleader (who needed the uniform when you had the most awesome little handbag with the team's logo on the front), raising our spirits after a not-so-greatly-played hockey game, as well as keeping the hype after a very good played game. Not only was she the team mom, but she was one of us, one of the girls.
 Shock and devastation erupted upon our faces the moment we found out about her passing. How can this happen to such a young, loving, caring mother, with much too still live for? Pondering over this exact question, we realized she already had what she wanted in life: a loving husband, a boisterous son, and a passionate daughter (as well as a playful dog, Baxter).
 Her courage to pursue her life after cancer and the strength she had of slowly ripping those chains apart portray the ideal woman. And even if Connie is no longer with us physically, she will reside in our hearts, minds, and souls; captivating and engaging every ounce.
 Condolences go out to Rick, Joel, and Danielle Nori. We are always here for you, and give our deepest love.

Connie was a beautiful person who could bring laughter and joy to anyone she met. I think if Connie could say anything to us now she would say:

 I first met Connie while working for Reckitt & Colman in Calgary. She was a outstanding person and will be missed greatly. She was always in a good humor, willing to help others and had a ' Joy of living' that made her a great person to know and be around.

When Megan & I found out we naturally broke into tears and Megan's first words were 'that's wrong, I Love Connie she is such a wonderful person'. Of course I totally agree.
 
I hope that you will find some comfort in your many friends and family and remember its ok to lean on them for love and support; everyone knows you would be there for them in a time of need.
 I know that you will treasure the many special memories of the years you shared together and cherishing them will help to give you strength.

Connie was very special to all of us. The 400 Sandringham Place cul-de-sac was never quite the same once you moved to BC. We have very fond memories of the good times, laughs and pit parties that we all shared.

Connie was a unique and special friend. I first met her when she moved to Vancouver to join the ING Admin. team. Her strength and warmth of character were what drew people to Connie. Connie you will be sadly missed by your hockey family. Even though you were battling this terrible disease,you still soldiered on with your manegerial duties always with a smile on your face and never a complaint. Although our friendship was short you were always someone we will remember. My greatest memory is of us in our tent tralier in Osoyoos laughing hysterically over a game of yatzee. Or us just sitting around making a big batch of Gnocchi with are families. You always had such a great sense of humour and kept us laughing many times at the rink.
