1932 ' 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Leslie Summers on Friday, February 17, 2017. Born in Vancouver on December 19, 1932, David was the driving force behind Summers Auto Body, a business started by his father in 1926 that he carried on until 2011. He was well respected in the industry and was recognized by the City of Vancouver with the Mayor's Environmental Achievement Award. David loved taking his young children on fishing trips which eventually led him to Charlotte Lake. An incredible pristine lake where he built a small cabin. His love of the Chilcotin prompted him to also purchase acreage on the McClinchy River and build an amazing home that all the family will enjoy for years to come. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, David was predeceased by his son Brent and leaves behind the love of his life, his wife Maybelle, his children Dave (Heather), Jacqueline (Randy), Mark (Sherry) and Craig (Tracy). He will also be sadly missed by his grandchildren: Jaime, Chadwick, David Jr., Justin, Aaron, Amanda, Todd, Travis and Elisha; great grandchildren: Caleb, Zachary, Maria, Joshua, Jacob, Ashlyn, Marcus and Keira. A Celebration of Life will be held at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel, 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby, B.C. on Saturday, March 11 at 11:00 a.m.. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the World Wildlife Fund at www.wwf.ca/donate. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.bellburnaby.com
