

David Yu Wah Yuen, P.Eng. was born January 20, 1943 and passed away at the age of 83 on May 12, 2026 after battling cancer since late 2025. Born in Guangzhou, China, he immigrated to Hong Kong and was educated at Pui Ying Secondary School, followed by a Bachelors Degree in National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan graduating in 1967. He later immigrated to Canada and completed his Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toronto in 1970.
David married his wife Sharon in 1969. David and Sharon moved to Lunenburg, Nova Scotia in 1971 where he started working for Atlantic Bridge Company (RPS) in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia in industrial composite materials. Their son, Alex, was born in 1971.
In 1973, David started working for ICL Engineering Limited and moved their young family to Ladner, BC, just outside Vancouver, BC. Their daughter, Flora, was born in 1975. The family moved to North Vancouver in 1980 so Sharon could start her own business. David continued to work at ICL Engineering until 1998 and afterwards became an independent consultant in the industrial composites industry until retiring in 2017.
David enjoyed tennis, fishing, walking, card games (bridge), travelling, and led a very active life. Later in life, he and Sharon enjoyed ballroom dancing, wild mushroom picking, cooking and spending time with family.
David is survived by his wife, Sharon; his son, Alex (Andrea Lee); his daughter, Flora (Gerald Chen) and grandchildren, Anthony Yuen, Daphne Yuen, Sienna Chen, and Avery Chen. His passing will be deeply missed by all the lives he has touched.
