Diosdado “Dino” Garcia, 78, passed away peacefully from rheumatoid arthritis and Parkinson’s disease. Born on September 13, 1947, in Manila, Philippines, Dino lived in Montreal, Quebec from 1972 to 1982 before making Vancouver, BC his home.
Kind, generous, and always ready with a joke—especially for his family—he was well known for fixing electronic appliances, playing piano by ear, and keeping up with every new technology, from sound systems and video cameras to movie formats and model trains.
Dino loved cooking, music, movies, travelling, and welcoming international students into his home, where his warmth and hospitality made everyone feel like family.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Florita Garcia; daughters Sarah Garcia Hack, her husband Kevin, and their children Allan and Chantal, and Sandra Nomoto and her husband Leo; and son Ernest James (E.J.) Garcia and his son Treyvon. His generosity, curiosity, humour, and remarkable desire to fix nearly anything will be deeply missed.
