
Florence Victoria MacKenzie passed away peacefully in Perth Ontario March 23, 2019, age 96, having lived a full and adventurous life. Girls counsellor and French teacher at West Vancouver Secondary School for more than 30 years, her mentorship and friendship were valued by extended family, students, colleagues and friends. She and husband Rod were world travelers and shared their adventures with friends and family. Her diligence and nurturing hand gave prize-winning life to dahlias and roses.
She was predeceased by her husband Roderick Duncan MacKenzie, of Vancouver, her sister Dorothy Patteeuw, of Ottawa, and brother Ed, Vancouver. She is survived by her stepson David (Gill) MacKenzie, Kent, England, their children Andrew (Marianne) and Jon; stepson Norman MacKenzie, Vancouver BC, and family in Western and Eastern Canada.
In the West, niece Mardelle Rowell, her partner Lindsey, and her daughter Tasha, her grandchildren Alex and Zoe; niece Thomasine Antoniali and husband Romeo, and their children Robert; and Kelsey, and husband Trent Truman.
In the East, Florence’s niece Lynn Crabtree and her daughter Amanda and sons Blake, Eric, and Mitchel; daughter Tracey Lynn and husband Cameron Maxwell Gunn and children Marley, Logan, and Whitney; Kirsten. Florence’s niece Andrea Shaw and her children Ryan, wife Heather and children Riann and Belle; son Chris; daughter Valerie. Florence’s niece Maureen Patteeuw, husband Philip Coville, daughter Kara, husband Josh Smith and son Drayton; Cassie, husband Michael Aiello and son Jackson; Krystal.
Her closest friend of 90 years, Kay Francis of White Rock, BC, her children Don and Erica Francis, Ken and Donna Francis, Gail (deceased), grandchildren and great grandchildren, were part of the extended family that cherished “Auntie Flo’s” lively presence, kindness and guidance.
Memorial services will be held in Perth March 30 and Vancouver at Shaughnessy Heights United Church, July 5 2:00 p.m.,1550 West 33rd Avenue.
