Frank Fong Yiu Lam was born on January 28, 1941, in Hong Kong. He was the eldest of four sons born to Aleck and Milly Lam. His father was an Army Lieutenant during the Second World War. Between the age of two to five, Frank resided in different parts of North Eastern China with his father who fought the war in Manchuria. After the war, he returned to Hong Kong and had a very happy childhood. Being the eldest son in the “Lam Clan”, he was always very well mannered and was the pride and joy of his parents and grandfather.
Soon after graduation from St. Frances Xavier’s College in Kowloon, Hong Kong, Frank was recruited as a police inspector for the Hong Kong Police Force. He later became an ammunition specialist for the government until he moved to Vancouver, Canada in 1988. He followed his father’s footsteps and became a Realtor. Frank took great pride in his business ethics and professionalism. Over his 21 year career, he earned the utmost respect from his peers and received hundreds of commendations from clients.
In 1965, Frank and his enduring love, Jade, were married. In their 45 years of marriage, they were never apart. Frank was a family man and adored his children dearly. His two children, Pauline and Vick are also seasoned Realtors with excellent reputations. Frank was always very proud of their accomplishments.
An avid long distance runner, Frank enjoyed running two to three times a week. His favourite hobby was fishing. Other hobbies included swimming, collecting stamps, kicking around a Chinese hacky sack, flying kites, singing, watching movies, soccer and tennis. He also enjoyed meeting new people, keeping in touch with old friends, and traveling. He had traveled to almost all corners of the world with Jade. His other enjoyments in life were to play Russian poker and to take pleasure in a glass of red wine with his relatives in Toronto at Christmas gatherings.
Frank earned the reputation as a true gentleman in every way. He was affable, caring, genuine and respectful to everyone he knew. His greatest gift was connecting with people and creating friendships that lasted throughout his life.
He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by the many people whose lives he touched. He was the best husband, father and friend that anyone could ever ask for.
