I, like many, have had Dr. Soo care for my teeth for decades.  Even as a child, from the first visit, Dr. Soo's big heart was apparent. I am saddened to hear of his passing almost a year ago.  His legacy will live on.

I am sadden to hear the passing of Dr. Soo. He was a great dentist who is passionate about what he does. And he always go out of his way to make his patient comfortable. He will be dearly missed.

Sad to hear of Dr. Soo's passing.  I was a child in his chair back in 1962 in his original office above the then Royal Bank on #3 Road @ Park.  Followed him to his newer office on Anderson Road.  Moved into the big city as a young adult & left his practice to be closer to a new dentist ( very good as well).  But still missed his friendly face.  Only recently, reconnected with his office and was happy to see him before he passed.  A man dedicated to "The Art of Dentistry", an inspiration to many  . . . He will be missed .

I am saddened by this, my condolences to Dr. Soo's family. My parents and I have been with his practice is 1985! He was my dentist for 17 years! I loved having him as my dentist, he was so sincere, kind, and very patient with me. I am extremely glad that his practice lives on...with his talented and great children...whom they inherited  their father's loving and caring personality. Dr. Frederick Soo will be greatly missed.

Upon returning to Canada in 1971 I learned my dentist had retired. I began the search for a dentist. Family and friends gave me several recommendations and I planned on visiting each one to see if I was comfortable with them.  Dr. Soo was 1st on the list.  Upon meeting Fred and discussing my dental needs I felt he truly cared.  I made an appointment to have my teeth checked before leaving his office and knew I had found my dentist!  I cancelled the other appointments and have been a patient since 1971. Over the years my entire family became patients of Dr. Soo. I greatly appreciated his genuine caring about our family.  He always asked how each family member was doing in school and later in their respective occupations.  He talked about everything and with genuine interest in how I was doing...as we travel through life we meet many people, some pass through our lives and some become friends and become part of your life forever. Some friends light up your day when you see them.  Fred was one of those people, always pleased to see you.  The feeling was mutual. A keen professional a caring person, I shall always have his smiling face to remember him. he lived a good life, true to his family, friends, co-workers and patients. We were all sad to hear about the passing of Dr. Soo. He had been our family dentist since I can remember or as he would say "you've been coming here since you were 2 and a half" and I'm now 54. He was always so kind and would ask every time how was the family doing. Dr. Soo you will be missed.

We were extremely fortunate to have had Dr. Fred Soo as our dentist for over 30 years.  He was outstanding in every way.
We are very grateful to his wonderful Family for all that they did to make the Celebration of his Life so very special for everyone.

Thank you so much for the Celebration of Life due. We enjoyed it so much. We will never forget this amazing man!!!

So sorry to not be able to attend the celebration of Dr. Soo's life. His generosity and positive nature will continue to be a part of my memory of him, from my experience of being a patient as well as an employee. One favorite memory was when he would close the office for one day in the Christmas season to treat the staff to a wonderful lunch out. Peace and love to the family as you greatly miss his presence.

I am so sorry to hear about Fred's passing. My practice was across the hall for many years and always enjoyed the chats we had in the hallway. He was one of the friendliest people around, always had a smile. My condolences to the family.

We were so sorry to hear of Fred's passing.  We enjoyed seeing him so often at the JCC - a true regular and a very special member.  He is missed!  Wishing you all deepest condolences.  May his memory be for a blessing.

I will miss Dr. Soo's smile and 'talks' - as noted in an earlier messages. I remember his special goodie drawer and how he would ask questions while working in my mouth, but asking open-ended questions versus yes no or ones you could nod your head to!

Thoughts are with the staff and Christopher & family - see you in the New Year for my next appointment.  I better get flossing!

Dr. Soo reminded me every time I visited that I have been coming in for checkups since I was four years old. That would make it about 1961. Over fifty years of excellent dentistry and friendship. Even up to a a few years ago he was still telling me how to brush!  I feel so lucky to have known him. I am glad to be able to carry on with Dr Chris Soo as another most excellent dentist.

Dr. Soo became our family dentist in 1958 or  1959.  I was 8 or 9 when one day a young man knocked on our door explaining he was starting a practice in Richmond and would my parents be interested in his service.  My father eagerly brought all 4 of his children (2 more would be added later) to visit the very new dentist.  Dr. Soo cared for our family for all of his career. I met Dr. Soo when I was 3, and he became my wonderful, avuncular dentist! Loved the goodies drawer - always picked an Owl eraser or a ring, as he patiently waited for me to decide. I can still him saying "mother in!" at the end of the appointment. He will be greatly missed. There aren't many like him left. What a great 'chair-side' manner he had!

Sorry to hear of Dr. Soo's passing. What a wonderful caring man. Our daughter inlaw and son said it all. I met Dr. Soo before and after I was training for the Vancouver marathon which I completed. He was so inspirational when ever I was running. He always seemed so proud of my efforts and even when we moved to Shuswap Lake always asked Michael and Anne how are you're parents doing? and we should still drive down for our dental work. He is a person you will always remember for his drive in life and his humble kindness. 
We will forever think of him.

We were so sad to hear of Dr. Soo's passing. Mike was taken to see Dr. Soo for the first time when he was about 3 years old by his parents who were Dr. Soo's patients for many years until they moved to the Shuswap. Dr. Soo asked about them every time that we saw him right up until the day he stopped coming into the office. We took our children to see Dr. Soo when they were about 3 and continue to see his son and daughter in law to this day. We will always treasure our memories of the lovely caring man that he was to all of us. One time I had a procedure on a Friday and over the weekend he called just to make sure that I was feeling fine. Another time I fell when I was running and broke my 2 front teeth on a Saturday and he fit me in right away with no complaints. He was always such a kind and caring man and dentist. His practice has been passed on to his equally lovely son and daughter in law who I am sure will take good care of all of us for many years to come. I am sure that Dr. Soo will be missed greatly by his family, friends, patients and his wonderful staff. He was one of a kind. The world will not be the same without him. Our deepest condolences to Chris, Catherine and family and the staff of the office.

Dr. Soo was like a second father to my sister and I when we worked for him after school 30 years ago! I learned much about client car and practice building from him. Thanks for sharing him with us all!

Freddy will be missed in the fitness center, JCC, it was a joy watching him working out everyday Tuesday and Thursday from 10 to 10.30. He went away and we thought he was coming back one day.I guess he will go for long walks wherever he is now. Good by Freddy. Rocio K

Fred was one of a kind, always a ready smile and he would always ask how we were my first husband, Andy Barnes who has passed away, our children Laura and Alan.  He was my first dentist after I got married in 1961.  My present husband Ed Zwick, also went to Fred.  His appointments were a  VISIT first - and eventually get our teeth looked at !!!  I'm sure he lived every day to the fullest.  Our deepest condolences.

I was first introduced to Dr. Soo when I was 3yrs old. He was such a kind, gentle man, he made going to the dentist easy. He watched me grow up and then my own kids-checkup every 6months! He will be sadly missed, it was like losing part of my own family.

Dr. Soo will be missed by so many. He was part of our family framework for decades as the 4 of us saw him every 6 months & in between for root canals etc. My 1st husband died in 1997 and Dr. Soo came to his wake held in our home. That's who Dr Soo was and he held a spot in my heart because of it. My husband & I are happy that his son & daughter-in-law have taken over the practice. I'll miss him.

So sorry to hear the news. Dr. Soo was one of the good guys - perpetually happy and forever curious, almost to a fault. He should have been a talk show host instead of a dentist.

I was so sad to hear of Uncle Fred's passing.  I will miss him a lot!  I will always remember his sparkling eyes and huge welcoming smile!  He was always so positve and fun to be with.  I remember him coming over to my parents house for many parties.  He always taught us kids the latest dance moves.  It was fun to watch him play sports as his enthusiam was very contageous.  I can imagine him now playing tennis with my dad and they are having a laugh as to who is going to beat who.

Fred was one of the great figures I have met.  He had the rare gift of being able to relate to anyone, from the most humble to the most accomplished.  Everyone leaves some kind of legacy, but for me Fred is with me daily because of something he taught me in his practice about 25 years ago.  He told me I was going to lose my teeth if I didn't do XY and Z.  So I do it every day and have better teeth now than ever!  The other thing Fred left me was a need to stay physically active.  He took me waterskiing in Lake Samish one time.  He skied around the lake 2 times like a pro so I tried to do the same.  He was fine, of course, but I could not move my arms from a 90 degree position for almost a week!!  He was one of the main catalysts for me going to the gym, I often think of him and how he was so super fit.  I hope I can be like Fred as I age.  I'll miss him at gatherings.  He was a really great guy.

We were neighbors at Lake Samish for over 28 years.  We will cherish our memories of the Sunday afternoon chats and watching Fred skiing.  Our thoughts and prayers for Joyce and the family.

What a wonderful man the world has lost. We met Dr. Soo when we moved to Richmond in 1972. He was our Dentist until we moved to Vernon in 2003. I would stop in to visit on occasion when back in Richmond and he was always so happy to see you and always asked how everyone was. Our son still goes to his son now..

Dr. Soo was our family dentist from the early 70's until I moved to Kelowna in 1993.  He was a gentle man who I kiddingly teased as he always asked me questions when he had his fingers in my mouth.  Nine out of ten times the questions could not be answered with a yes or a no.   My thoughts and prayers are with his family & staff.   He was one of a kind.

Caring, warm and patient, Dr. Soo was not only a great dentist but a lovely man. He was always cheerful - even if he knew you weren't flossing! From his first office above the old Royal Bank at #3 & Park to Anderson Rd and finally to #3 & Westminster, he was my dentist since the age of four and later my children's dentist. I have such fond memories of being him reminding me to select a shiny "diamond" ring or googly-eyed owl eraser from the prize drawer and how he later encouraged my kids take two items each even when they were teenagers! It is a pity he didn't get to enjoy his well-deserved retirement for a little longer. My sincerest condolences to the Soo family.

What a man!He was my dentist from 1963-2014.He was what a dentist was supposed to be. Caring,gentle and compassionate.All of my family were patients of his and he always asked about my brothers,sister,mom,dad and my son.He was not a dentist just for the money but an extremely beautiful person who cared.He always made time for you and when you had an appointment you had to be prepared to spend an hour or two as he loved to talk!LOL What a man and he will truly be missed by myself and my family. My heart goes out to The Family and he will always be remembered deeply in my heart!Unfortunately Myla and I cannot make the service as we are in Ecuador,but our thoughts and prayers will be with you.

Fred was a regular and dependable member for over 20 years at the Western Restorative Study Club. Even after his retirement he still came regularly to all of our study sessions and our evening social get togethers.  His cheerful disposition and his sincere friendliness always brightened up our meetings.  We will sorely miss him.  Our most sincere condolences to his wonderful family.

Dr.Soo was the kindest, sweetest and most gentle friend and dentist that anyone could ask for. He was very chatty and caring during my visits for the many decades that I was his patient. Each visit was a "catch-up" on my personal life as well as a check-up with my oral hygiene. The practice is in good hands with his son and daughter-in-law plus all of his staff. We came to Richmond in 1960 and Dr. Soo became our Dentist.  There was Ken and I and our three children, Garry, Dale, Cheryl.  He was absolutely wonderful to all of us.  He was kind, gentle, and he became our friend as well as our Dentist.  It was very hard on our family when he retired because now we all had to face a new Dentist.  We will all have fond memories of our friend Dr. Soo.  Ken & Lillian, Garry,and Cheryl Stenersen.

 
 I have known Fred since my childhood years. He was a gentleman , highly respected by my family his friends and patients.  I shall always remember him for his many wonderful attributes.
