May 9, 1920 – December 5, 2017
George went peacefully to be with his lord Jesus Christ at the age of 97. He will always be remembered with love by his children Yvonne, Michael (Linda), Heather and Alan (Gina). He was predeceased by his dear wife Christina, his wife of 65 years. George is survived by his six grandsons Matthew, Stephen, Aaron, Nathan, Alexander and Graham and by his great-grandchildren Adrian, Nicholas, Simon, Lauren and Elyse. George was a WWII RAF veteran who came to Canada from Aberdeen Scotland in 1953. He came to Canada seeking opportunity for his family and settled in Vancouver and New Westminster B.C. In his professional life George owned a journeyman’s business, Crest Painting. Later in life he enjoyed his love of art by owning Farquhar Place Gallery. George was a born salesman and generous to all of his customers. He had a wonderful sense of humour, was enjoyed by all who knew him and will be sadly missed. He deeply appreciated the friendship of his men’s bible study group at First Baptist Church. We wish to extend our thanks to all of the wonderful staff at Louis Brier Home and Hospital who cared for George over the last seven years. A service for family and friends will be held on Thursday December 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church on Nelson St. at Burrard in Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations to Union Gospel Mission would be appreciated (https://www.ugm.ca/donate/).
