
It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of their beloved father and grandfather in Burnaby on August 21, 2011. George was born near Pierson Manitoba on April 23, 1918. He had 2 brothers Bill and Alec, and 4 sisters Agnes, Beth, Mary and Janet. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in WW II. George married Norah (Betty) Elizabeth Wright on December 26, 1942. Following the war George trained as a watchmaker and had a 40 plus year career serving his clients. George settled in Burnaby where he built a home. George was a proud Mason and a Boy Scout Leader. He had a keen mind and was a whiz with numbers. He enjoyed pets, cars, camping, gardening, travel and movies. He was also a devoted BC Lions and Vancouver Canucks fan. George was predeceased by his first wife Betty, and by his second wife Mildred. George is survived by his sister Mary, son Bryan (Barbara) of Kelowna, and granddaughters Amy of Kelowna and Eryn of Calgary, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. The family wishes to thank all of the healthcare staff at Burnaby Hospital for their kind care of George in his last days. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. Friends and family are invited to join in honouring George's memory at an informal celebration of life to be held at 1950 Sperling Ave., Burnaby on September 10, 2011 from 1-3pm.
