Georgina Gayle Ascher

Georgina passed away peacefully on Monday May 25, 2026, after a brief illness.

Georgina is survived by her son Christopher Ascher, daughter-in-law Jaime Ascher, granddaughter Marissa Ascher, brother Randy George and sister-in-law Irene Solstad. Georgina was predeceased by her husband Christian Ascher, brother Derrill George and grandsons James Ascher and Zachary Ascher.

Georgina was born in Lethbridge, Alberta. She was a big sister to Derrill and Randy. Georgina moved with her family to Vancouver in 1957, met her future husband Chris in 1958 and got married at the end of 1959.

In 1965 they bought their house on Rupert Street and in July 1970 welcomed the birth of their son Christopher. Georgina devoted herself to raising Christopher.

In May 2005, Georgina and Chris welcomed their granddaughter Marissa, but she devastatingly lost her beloved husband of 45 years a short time later when Chris passed away in August 2005. Georgina loved being a grandma and often took care of Marissa playing dolls, games and reading with her.

Georgina enjoyed traveling and took trips with family to Europe, Disneyland, Hawaii and Las Vegas. Georgina spent much time with her brother Derrill and also loved taking care of Einstein – Marissa’s fluffy white dog.

After Derrill passed away in 2024, Georgina began to slow down and experienced some health challenges. She lived for a year at Thornebridge Gardens where she made many friends and most

recently at St. Jude's Anglican Home at the time of her passing.

A funeral service will occur Thursday June 18, 2026 at 10:00am at Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Reception to follow.
