

Born on January 31, 1935, in Angat, Bulacan, Philippines, Gerry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. A proud resident of Red Deer, Alberta, he was deeply cherished by all who knew him. Gerry worked as a cost engineer, remembered for his sharp mind and steady problem-solving skills. He was a wonderful storyteller, a man with an endlessly curious spirit, and among the most gentle and generous souls one could ever meet. His warmth and quiet strength left a lasting impression on everyone blessed to share in his life.
Gerry is survived by his loving wife, Linda Gatchalian, and by his children from his first marriage to his beloved late wife, Lina: Gilbert (wife Mitsuko) and their children Terrance, Brandon, Maya, and Mika; Christina and her daughter Danielle (husband Andy) and great-granddaughter Parker; Gerald (wife Maricel) and their children Gabriel, Mia, and Julia; Garvin (wife Bistra) and their sons Miguel and Denis; Catherine; and Caroline (wife Sarah). He is also lovingly remembered by his stepchildren, James (wife Abigail) and their children Zach, Dion, Achie, and Astrid; from his marriage to Linda; and Jenna; as well as by his sister, Luz Holst (late husband Dieter). He was predeceased by his brother, Florencio Jr. Gatchalian, and sister-in-law, Chet.
A Celebration of Gerry's Life will be held at Ocean View Funeral Home 4000 Imperial Street Burnaby , BC V5J 1A4 on Monday, October 20th, 2025 at 10:00am.
