Giovanna Cusani

With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother and Nonna, Giovanna, on February 18, 2017 surrounded by family, just days before her 94th birthday. Predeceased by husband Luigi, brothers Tony and Pasquale, sons-in-law Felice and Paul, Giovanna leaves behind her son Sam (Lorraine), and daughters Maria Lucia (Luciano), Angela, Franca (Dave), and Imma (Ed), along with her cherished 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, sisters-in-law Jerry and Josephine, and her sister Angelina in Italy. She will be missed by her many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends in Canada, Italy and the USA. Giovanna was born in Amorosi, Benevento, Italy and began her life in Canada in 1961. She was a tireless worker who lived alone in her own house until her final days. Honest, sincere, engaging, and generous, we could never leave her home without food in hand. Giovanna was the matriarch and centre of her large family and we all adored her. She completed life's journey honourably and at peace with the world, in love with family, in God's good Grace. Prayers will be offered on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Michael's Parish 9387 Holmes St., Burnaby, BC where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at the Abbey Mausoleum, Ocean View Burial Park, Burnaby, BC.
