Giovanni Di Fonzo

Giovanni was born August 7, 1932, in Campodimele, Latina, Italy passed away peacefully in Vancouver, British Columbia on May 28, 2026, at the age of 93 years. He is predeceased by his parents Quirino and Gemma, his first wife Ilda, his sister and brother-in-law Angelina (Attilio) Pecchia, and sister-in-law Regina Di Fonzo,

Giovanni is survived by his second wife Maria, his stepchildren Joe (Suzann) Andriani, Frank (Diana) Andriani, Vince (Concetta) Andriani, grandchildren Cristina (Cody), Daniel, Annamaria, Mikaela, Christian and Gabriella, his brother Guido, brother-in-law Pietro Di Fonzo (Regina), as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Giovanni worked for CP Rail from the time of his arrival in Canada until his retirement. Known for his work ethic, remarkable memory and quiet resilience, Giovanni enjoyed travelling, his garden, making wine and spending time with his family and friends.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00PM - 8:00PM, June 10, 2026 at Bell and Burnaby Funeral Chapel, 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby, British Columbia. Catholic burial mass will be held at 11:00AM, June 11, 2026, at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, 555 Slocan Street, Vancouver, British Columbia. Entombment will follow at Ocean View Burial Park, Abbey Mausoleum.

The family would like to thank the staff at the German Canadian Care Centre for their care during his final months. In lieu of flowers, donations in Giovanni’s memory may be made to the BC Cancer Society.
