Graziano Ceccon

It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Graziano, aged 89, who left us peacefully on August 27, 2026 with family by his side.

Graziano left his native Italy for Canada at the age of 20 with little money, his best friend, and a huge sense of adventure. He settled in Vancouver, started his career as a carpenter, called over the love of his life, Dorina, and created a wonderful family and life with her.

As a master carpenter, Graziano led many large building projects throughout British Columbia. Through his work, he was able to see places like Texada Island, Prince George, Powell River, and more. One year, he even worked on the construction of a pulp and paper mill in Iran! We loved hearing his work stories – always told, as with all his stories, with lots of levity an flair.

Graziano loved tending to his grapevines and fruit trees, watching Formula 1 car races, and reading the newspaper. He enjoyed talking about politics, historical events from his generation, and anything to do with Italy with friends and family. In his retirement years, he relished gathering with friends at Confederation Park and talking about “the good old days”.

His greatest love and legacy were his family. Graziano was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Maria, and his brother, Modesto. He was a devoted husband to Dorina, his amazing wife of 67 years, and a loving father to Monica (Johnny) and Brenda (Eric). Graziano was a very proud nonno to six grandsons and one great granddaughter. Also missing him are his brothers Giovanni and Silvio, and many more family members and friends in Italy,

Switzerland, and Canada. Graziano loved nothing better than spending hours around the dinner table surrounded by his family and regaling them with stories from his life-long adventures.

Graziano’s wit, sass, humour, and unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten.

A private funeral mass will be held in the coming weeks and burial will take place in his beloved Italy at a later date.

In his honour, enjoy a dinner with family, followed by a shot of grappa or a caffè corretto with panna.
