In 1952, stepmother Maria and the family left Italy, joining Giovanni and settled in Trail, BC. After graduating from JL Crowe Secondary School, he completed his carpentry apprenticeship at Cominco, now Teck. He married Paola Cristofoli in 1967. Soon after, they both were ready for a move to Vancouver for greater opportunities.
For over sixty years, Guido maintained close friendships with his Trail friends, meeting regularly at the hunting cabin.
In Vancouver, Guido first began working as a tradesman in large commercial projects. His management skills were evident, and led him to work as a supervisor on many major projects in British Columbia and the United States. His retirement was spent enjoying his garden, time at their second home in Whistler, along with many trips to Italy and Palm Desert.
He is survived by his wife Paola, son Derek (Vicki), grandsons Jack and Dean, brother-in-law Robert Cristofoli (Dallas). Also surviving him are his brother Lino (Sheila), nephews Jeff (Melissa) and Brent, sisters Gabriella and Lida, and nephew Jarrod.
In addition to the Moro family, he will be greatly missed by the Venier and Basso families, who were a big part Guido’s life.
His funeral will be held at St. Helen’s Parish, 3860 Triumph Street, Burnaby on Tuesday, July 28 at 10:00 am.
