He passed away peacefully at home and had a long and full life of 97 years.
Born in the City of New Westminster he had an accomplished career as a commercial fisherman.
Herb was predeceased by his wife Ann and is survived by his two sons David and Dean as well as his two grandchildren Erin and Spencer.
Herb was also predeceased by his long time companion Bea Farrell.
Herb JAGGER lived 97 meaningful years and if you knew him, you knew the thing he loved most ….was golf. He was very fond of an 11 o’clock tee time.
It’s truly amazing that he was able to meet his passing at the tee time of his own choice.
A founding member of the Country Meadows Senior Men’s Golf Club, Herb pursued his passion. His fondest memories were of the many rounds and the camaraderie of the scores of close friends found on the fairways of County Meadows.
Herb mastered a very unusual golf club, the 1 iron. With this club he could stroke the ball with great distance and amazing accuracy. This was a kind of secret weapon for Herb. That and the fact he was a talented student of the game, taking lessons well into his late eighties.
Golf wasn’t just a game to Herb. It was patience. It was perseverance. It was quiet concentration. It was the joy of fresh air, the challenge of doing just a little better than yesterday, and the simple pleasure of walking a fairway with friends.— what mattered was being out there, club in hand, enjoying the day.
He didn’t need noise or fuss. Give him a golf club… and a bit of sunshine, and he was right where he wanted to be.
The measure of his life isn’t found in how fast it was lived, but in how well it was enjoyed — and Herb knew how to enjoy life. One round at a time.
We will remember him … in the sound of a golf ball rolling across a green…
In laughter shared along a fairway…
And in the peace that comes from knowing a life was truly well lived.
Rest easy, Herb.
