Born on August 19, 1924 in Poettsching Austria. Immigrated to Canada in 1953. Predeceased by her husband Max Lindenthaler, sister Mary, and brother Leo. Survived by son Max Lindenthaler and partner Judy Thomson, daughter Dr. Evelyn Lindenthaler, and son in law Jeff Thomas, grandchildren Ryan, and Joshua Lindenthaler, and Joel, Alyssa, and Mary Thomas.
While Hilda was in nursing school in Salzburg, she met her future husband Max and the two of them soon left post-war Austria for Canada. A ship brought them from France to Quebec where they boarded a train for the long trip across Canada. Any concerns they had about their decision to leave home disappeared when the train took them over the Rocky Mountains, whose peaks reminded them so much of the Austrian Alps they’d left behind.
Hilda loved gardening, and her yard overflowed with beautiful blossoms. Plus, her organic vegetable garden is surely what kept her so healthy all her life.
We would like to thank the extraordinary staff at Renfrew Care Centre for their care and support in her final years. In lieu of flowers, we invite you to donate to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of BC.
Mom, you are dearly missed by all of us. Rest in peace, together again with Dad.
