Mr. Hing Leung 梁慶

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Hing Leung at Richmond General Hospital on Thursday, December 8, 2022. Mr. Hing Leung was an agricultural scientist whose career spanned from China to Thailand. When in China, he worked at the Sugarcane Research Institute of the College of Agricultural Science in Guangdong. His major research was in the prevention and treatments against sugarcane pests. After moving to Thailand in 1978, he learned the Thai language and taught local farm workers to grow high quality tomato seeds for export. He was an avid gardener in his retirement, a loving father, proudly self-reliant, good humoured, enjoyed fine food, unafraid to surprise his family with a karaoke song in public, and above all a very dignified gentleman in his longevity.

Mr. Leung was predeceased by his wife Mdm. Po Kwan Chung in 1996. Left to cherish his memory and place in their lives are his daughters and son (and their spouses), Marian Pui (Tommy Tao), Wai (Kin-Shing Tong), Chi (Teresa Tsong), Yan (Wai-Long Tao) and his granddaughters Sonia Tao and Adrienne Leung.
