It is with deep love and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Nonna, Yolanda Vecchiato, on January 6, 2026, in Vancouver, British Columbia, at the age of 95.
Born on May 10, 1930, in Bari, Italy, she carried her roots with pride throughout her life. She later made Canada her home, where she built a life centered on family, friends, and connections which brought her so much joy. She was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and most proudly a great-grandmother. She was the heart of her family.
She loved nothing more than being surrounded by those she cherished most. A lover of a good party and celebration, she brought warmth, laughter, and energy wherever she went. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren beyond measure, took genuine interest in everyone she met, and was known for her friendly nature, welcoming smile, and joyful spirit. She truly enjoyed life and was deeply cherished by many.
Yolanda was predeceased by her husband Emilio; and survived by her daughters Loredana (Domenico) and Lidia (Giovanni), her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 555 Slocan St, Vancouver.
A Funeral Mass will follow on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., beginning again at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, with entombment at Oceanview Cemetery, 4000 Imperial St, Burnaby.
She will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered, always — for her smile, her laughter, and the way she made everyone feel like family.
Sempre nei nostri cuori Nonna
