

COUPAL, Irene nee Rioux, 77, of Burnaby, British Columbia, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2015 after a lengthy and courageous struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. Irene was the second of 6 children, born in Montmartre, Saskatchewan on July 24, 1937. She married Val Coupal on June 13, 1955. Irene and her husband established and built a successful family business but she is most remembered for her love of family, her kindness, her intelligence, her gentle nature and beauty and a smile that lit up all our our lives. Irene is survived by her husband of 60 years, Val, and her 3 children and their spouses, Remi Coupal and his wife Jennifer, Jocelyn Coupal and her husband Jim Grisdale, Gary Coupal and his wife Sheryll, her 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, her sisters Anita Kosar, Annette (Amie) Perras, and Emma Rioux, her many nieces and nephews and many other extended family and friends. Irene is predeceased by her parents, Ernest Rioux and Marie-Rose nee Levesque, as well as her first born infant sister, Marie Louise, age 3 weeks, and youngest brother Joseph, age 3.
Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel at Forest Lawn on Saturday May 16, 2015 at 2:00pm with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
