Jack was born in Mannville, AB. The family eventually settled in East Vancouver where he attended Laura Secord Elementary, Vancouver Technical High School, and BCIT. Activities he enjoyed included running, fishing, biking, and playing tennis. A quiet, hardworking, gentle soul, he took great pride in his career in customer service management.
Complicated health issues cut his career short. At his greatest time of need, he lived with his devoted elderly mother until she could no longer look after him. Three years ago, it became necessary to transfer Jack’s care to the wonderful staff at the GCCH.
Jack is survived by his mother, Fung Kuen “Jean” Chow; his siblings, Mary, Richard (Yuki), May; and his sister-in-law, Rae. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a large extended family.
Jack is survived by his daughter, Jana May Ling Wong-Chow, who misses their father-daughter moments exploring nature.
He is predeceased by his brother, Wilkie; father, Sun Yip “George” Chow; and his grandparents, Kwong “Joe” Chow, Fong Shee Chow, Kam Lam Yan and Yu Yu. Kam.
The family is grateful to all those who have provided love and support these past several years. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at the GCCH, and to his personal care aid, Delle, for her friendship to Jack.
Jack will be laid to rest on Thursday, August 22. Service will begin at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 3789 Royal Oak Avenue. Burnaby, BC V5G 3M1. The viewing will take place the evening before, on Wednesday, August 21, 7 to 9 p.m.
