OBITUARY

James Alexander Robson

IN THE CARE OF

Ocean View Funeral Home & Burial Park

Born: January 17, 1935 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan - Died: February 9, 2026 in Vancouver, BC

The original voice of the Vancouver Canucks is silent now, at 91. Jim Robson passed away peacefully on February 9, pre-deceased by his wife of 68 years, Bea. Four children — Jennifer (Martin), Mike (Gayle), Rob (Edina) and Stephani — were the offspring of a famous father who, self-deprecating, often said his kids were lucky to have had such a wonderful mother to raise them. Jim is also survived by grandson Theo, and granddaughters Emma, Panki and Abigel.

Jim’s first job was at CJAV in Port Alberni, BC in 1952. Over his 47-year career, he was the longtime play-by-play voice for WHL and NHL hockey, particularly for the Vancouver Canucks and also for Hockey Night in Canada. He also broadcast baseball (Vancouver Mounties), football (BC Lions), basketball and lacrosse. Honours include the Order of BC, and induction into Halls of Fame for NHL Hockey, BC Hockey, BC Sports and Canadian Broadcasting. The broadcast gondola at Rogers Arena bears his name, as does the street Jim Robson Way in Maple Ridge
