Mr. Joe Chee Lem

Mr. Joe Chee Lem, beloved husband of Bo Ching Lem of Vancouver, BC, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022 at the age of 87 years. Joe was born in Xinhui City, China on January 10, 1935. He was the second youngest of five children. He married the love of his life, Bo Ching in 1950. Joe emigrated from Xinhui to Hong Kong in 1953 and to Vancouver, Canada in 1956. He worked for his father in a poultry farm when he arrived and in two years he started his own business in buying and selling chicken eggs to the consumers. After fifteen years in the egg business, he became a truck driver for Terminal Fruit & Produce Ltd. until retirement in 1995. In addition to Bo Ching, Joe is survived by his sons, Ernest (Sally), David (Teresa), Henry (Zaida), William (Julia), Sam (Imelda), and Alan, his daughter Debra (Geoff), his grandchildren, Caroline, Justina, Toni (Josh), Derek (Alison), Christopher, Anthony, Kevin, Daniel, Justin, Brandon, and Erica, his great grandchildren Aria, Xavier, and Noah. Joe is also survived by his sister Kam Yok. Joe cherished the time he spent with his family and the sentiment was mutual. His kind spirit, generosity, and warm personality will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.

A service will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home 3789 Royal Oak Avenue Burnaby, BC V5G 3M1 at 9:30 am on Saturday, January 14th, 2023. The family welcomes all expressions of sympathy, including flowers, honorary donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and cards are welcome.
