Our deepest condolences to June ( my other mother) Johnny Jr, Tony and my bestie Dena. This news of my old friend who always said ‘ who are you’ after a zillion times being at the house still always made me laugh. John and I had some good sit on the couch conversations when I visited. His sparkling eyes, and his perfect manicured hair ( never a piece out of place) always had a smile for me, this is how I will always remember him. I hope you all find peace within knowing he’s not in pain anymore. Thinking about you all, love Penny and John ❤️

John and June were our neighbours in Port Coquitlam for eleven years they became a third set of grandparents for our two boys. We enjoyed John and June’s company especially around the holidays Boxing Day open houses, or having a beer in our back yards. John came with us to a WWE event, a “So you think your tough event “at the PNE, we always shared a good laugh together. He always had a candy or a mint to give the kids when he saw them. We admired his green thumb and he had the best lawn in the neighbourhood and his tomatoes were the best
He loved to play golf and we enjoyed hearing his stories of his boxing days. Most of all he was a great friend to our family. He will be missed dearly but we will always have fond memories of Johnny in our hearts
Your friends and neighbours

One of Families fondest memories of John was in 1961 at Christmas time in Vancouver's China Town at the Dragon Inn .

At closing time after a few drinks ... John got up on the stage and grabbed the microphone away from the MC and started to sing " I ' m dreaming of a White Christmas ."

He was very enthusiastic in his delivery of the song though he only remembered two of the verses .

He continued in an extended rendition of this song .

And he did not wish to leave the stage though ! because we were all cheering him on !

Eventually , John and all of us were escorted out of this establishment together by the staff .

The next morning John could not believe he did this !

Hilarious !
