Mr. Jose Ja Yan

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the loss of a devoted husband, loving father and the best grandpa. Born in August 1923, Jose passed away on Feb 21, 2013 at the age of 90. He immigrated to Canada in 1968 and took early retirement at the age of 50. He dedicated his life to his family, friends and in helping others. Jose was a kind and gentle man who loved to travel, sing Chinese opera, play MJ with friends and spend time with his grandchildren. His legacy to all whose lives he touched will be one of integrity, love and friendship. He is survived and dearly missed by his wife of almost 55 years, Nana; only child Judy (Abbott) grandchildren Jeunesse and Jonross. Jose will also be fondly remembered by many family members and friends. Special thanks to the dialysis team at VGH and the staff at St. Vincent Langara senior home for their kindness and care. The family would like to express gratitude to Keith Sjostrom for his tremendous love and support to dad during his last 5 years. A celebration of life and interment will be held on Tue Feb 26 at Ocean View Memorial Park located at 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations made in Jose's name to the dialysis unit at VGH would be greatly appreciated.
