Juan Zarate Jimenez Jr., age 90, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026. He was born on March 29, 1936, to Juanito Mejia Jimenez Sr. and Esperanza Zarate. He was the eldest of six children, Clarita, Conrado, Venus, Ida, and Corazon.
Juan received his early education in Manila and attended the Philippine Maritime School. He later continued his studies at the University of the East in Manila, where he earned a degree in Commerce with a major in Banking and Finance.
Following his education, Juan answered the call to serve his country by joining the Philippine Navy. After his military service, he continued his commitment to public service as a police officer with the Quezon City Police Department, dedicating himself to protecting and serving his community.
Juan met the love of his life, Rosalina, at V. Luna General Hospital in the Philippines, where she worked as a nurse. She cared for him while he was recovering from injuries he sustained during his service in the Philippine Navy. Over time, their friendship blossomed into love, and they were married on October 6, 1957. Together, they were blessed with nine children, 14 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. In 1974, they immigrated to Canada and eventually made their home in Vancouver, British Columbia, where they continued to nurture their family and create a lifetime of cherished memories.
As a husband, Juan was blessed to share 65 years with his wife Rosalina. Together, they built a home filled with love, faith, and unwavering devotion to their family. He was a devoted father and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather who cherished every moment with his growing family. Juan believed that family was life's greatest blessing. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his loved ones, celebrating their milestones, and watching each new generation grow.
Juan dedicated his life to his faith and was an active member of St. Mary’s Parish. As a charter member of the Third and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus at St. Mary’s Parish, he faithfully served his church and community. He lived a life of deep devotion to Christ, and his faith, and humble service touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Juan's stories, wisdom, gentle spirit, and warm smile will be remembered and cherished by all. Though he will be deeply missed, his love, faith, and legacy will live on in our hearts forever. We find comfort in knowing that he has been reunited with his beloved wife, Rosalina, with whom he shared a lifetime of love.
Juan is lovingly remembered by his children: Marlene, Esperanza, Jocelyn (Dick), Noel (Chris), Arlene (Bob), Mary Jane (Ryan), Joel (Michelle), and Cherrilyn (Cyrus).
