1920-2017
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Kathleen (Peggy) M. Snowden (nee Curd). Born February 27th, 1920, Peggy passed away peacefully on March 29th, 2017 with caring people around her. Adopted by a loving couple in the early 1920’s Peggy grew up in England where she worked at the BBC before immigrating to Canada in 1961. She leaves behind her niece, Stella Gillingham in England and members of the Curd family, as well as her step-niece, Laraine Emberson in New York and members of the Snowden family. Mourning her passing is a multitude of friends who will miss her dearly including the Wilkie family. In Vancouver Peggy worked at BC Hydro for 17 years until she retired in 1985. She was a volunteer with the Orpheum Theatre and the Red Cross and gave generously to multiple charities. She was an active member of Christ Church Cathedral and volunteered weekly to be available for the public visiting the church as a Narthex greeter. She was gracious and generous, had a great sense of humour, loved music and dancing, and was part of the community of the West End where people easily offered their support to her in her later years.
A service will be held in her honour on Saturday, April 22 at 10:00 am at Christ Church Anglican Cathedral (690 Burrard at Georgia) with a reception to follow. An inurnment will follow at 2:30 pm at Ocean View Funeral Home (4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Christ Church Cathedral.
