OBITUARY

Mrs. Kathleen "Kathy" Vipond

15 January, 1926 – 25 September, 2020
IN THE CARE OF

Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park

Kathy passed away peacefully in her sleep in Langley Hospice on September 25, 2020 at the age of 94. She was predeceased by her husband Elwyn in 2009 and her daughter Judy in 1961. She is survived by her brother Neville (Linda) Wade and her sister Marie (John) Ward, all of England, as well as many nieces, nephews and their children in both England and Canada.

Kathy was born in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England. She met her husband Elwyn in 1945 at a dance hall when Elwyn was serving in the Canadian army and they were married shortly thereafter. She came to Canada as a war bride in May 1946 aboard the ship Aquitania and they settled in Vancouver. Her entire working life was spent at Sears, where she became supervisor of the credit department and stayed until she retired.

Kathy will be remembered for her love of life. She was a people person and always saw the best in everyone. Dinners at her home were always filled with lively conversation and lots of laughter. She was kind, caring and generous to a fault. Her great passion in life was ballroom dancing. She and Elwyn spent 64 years dancing the night away every chance they could get. Her favorite place on earth was the Copper Room at the Harrison Hot Springs Hotel. She will be sorely missed by friends and family. The world is certainly a poorer place without her, but we know she will be happy to be reunited with Elwyn and Judy. There will be no service at her request.
