Born in Vancouver, BC on November 23, 1937, Kay was the second of six siblings, Joyce (deceased)(Ken), Ivan (Evelyn), Susan (Russell), Linda (Bryan), and Lynnette (Rod).
Her great love story started when she met her husband, Bock, at age 12. After dating for 10 years, they married on October 8, 1960, at the age of 22. They enjoyed 76 years together, nearly 66 as husband and wife.
She will be sadly missed by her husband Bock, her three children: Colin (Cynthia), Colleen, and Jennifer (Timothy) and her grandchildren: Sheriden, Madison, Hudson, Lauren, and Brayden.
Kay lived life to the fullest. She travelled extensively, exploring the entire world throughout her life. At home, she enjoyed badminton, tennis, golfing, skiing, and mahjong, and pursued many interests through courses in philosophy, comparative religion, bridge, painting, and ceramics. She also enjoyed the arts, holding seasons tickets to the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and the Pacific Dance Theatre.
She was a faithful friend who cherished the company of her lifelong friends until the very end. For 67 years, she celebrated New Year’s Eve with the same group of friends.
Above all, she brought joy to those fortunate enough to share moments with her. She had a way of making people feel special - her kindness, humour and warm smile touched many people’s hearts. She will be missed.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Ocean View Funeral Home on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at 10am. A reception will follow.
If you wish, a donation to the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation in Kay’s memory would be appreciated.
