Ken Kok Hin Chew

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Ken Kok Hin Chew, DVM of Richmond, British Columbia at Minoru Residence on May 19, 2026 at the age of 80 after a lengthy illness.

Born in George Town, Penang he immigrated to Canada and graduated with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph on May 28,1971. Ken worked as the Veterinary Program Officer & Inspection Veterinarian with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), serving as Port Veterinarian in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He retired from Public Service after 32 years on Jan 31,2006.

A life-long volunteer, he served on the Board of the Mission to Seafarers (Seamen) and was part of the CFIA Response team for diverted passengers and animals during September 11, 2001. An active member of his parish, for many years he helped run the pancake breakfast and was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus.

Predeceased by his sister (Emily), brother (Tony) and son (Vincent) he is lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Rosalind (née Lim) and daughter Joyce Chew.

Thank you to the hardworking and caring staff of Minoru Residence and Richmond Hospital for their devotion during his illness.

Cremation has taken place under the care of Oceanview Funeral Home & Burial Park. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 10 at 11am in St. Paul’s Parish, 8251 St. Alban’s Road, Richmond, BC. A Celebration of Life will be held in the parish hall afterwards.
