Mrs. Kristina Mihelic

Kristina Mihelic was born on December 10, 1933 in Slovenia . She is survived by her son Myron Mihelic, wife Chrystal, grandchildren Holli-Lynne (her husband Sam and children Elliot and Aubrey), and Brett.

Kristina left her homeland in 1957 first traveling to Austria where her and her long time sweetheart Zvonko (Mike 1932 – 2013) were married. In 1958 they set sail from Vienna for Canada with a final destination of Waterloo Ontario in February 1958 . Zvonko found work in Kitchener Ontario where they met lifetime friends whom with Kristina and Zvonko purchased a car and moved to Winnipeg. While living in Winnipeg they had two children Katerina (1959 – 2008) and Myron. When their children were not yet school age they packed up and moved to Vancouver where she remained until her death. Kristina was an avid gardener whom always appreciated a colorful garden. Kristina greatly enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends. She often hosted events and gatherings ensuring everyone had enough to eat. Kristina and Zvonko also enjoyed camping with her friends and family many memorable hours were spent at Cultus lake.

Kristina was strong willed and stubborn at times, but she also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. She was generous, loyal, and brave. She was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all of her life experiences. She will be remembered for all the heart she shared with her friends and family. She truly loved all of them and if you knew her, you knew it. When her time came, she carried herself with dignity, strength, and full of love for those who went before her, stating how she would see them all soon. Kristina was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend; She will be deeply missed.

A visitation for Kristina will be held Friday, October 6, 2023 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, BC V5J1A4. A funeral service will occur Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, BC V5J1A4. A committal service will occur Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, BC V5J1A4.
