Lai Jane passed away peacefully on June 24th, 2026 at the age of 89, with loving daughters Maria, Rovina, son-in-law Richard, granddaughters Alyssa and Chantelle by her side in Waterloo, Ontario. She was born in Hong Kong on August 5th, 1936 to a close-knit family with 2 sisters and 5 brothers. She met her husband Biu as a teenager and married at 24 in 1960. Together they lovingly raised 2 daughters Maria Ching-Ching, Rovina Yu-Ching and a son Michael Ying-Chi . With the special help from her late sister Janet and late brother-in-law Bill, the family moved to Vancouver, Canada in 1973.
She was an extraordinary cook with traditional Chinese cuisine. She loved Ballroom dancing with her husband, Chinese opera singing, playing badminton, swimming and traveling. When her husband passed away in 2008, she moved to Waterloo to live with her loving daughter Maria, son-in-law Richard and granddaughter Chantelle. She loved travelling around the world with her daughters and family. At 80, she fearlessly zipped line onboard a cruise ship the Symphony of the Sea.
