Born in Guangdong, China, on June 18, 1945, Yin’s journey was a beautiful testament to resilience, deep family devotion, and vibrant artistry. At the young age of 18, she married her beloved husband and embarked on a lifelong partnership. In 1981, they immigrated together to Canada, settling first in Vancouver. Arriving with little English but with deep determination to build a better life, they worked tirelessly to provide for their family and eventually established their own restaurant business. They eventually found their permanent home in Port Coquitlam, where they built lasting roots.
Yin was a remarkably kind-hearted woman whose easygoing personality naturally drew a wide and loving circle of friends. She had an incredible knack for many things, which was beautifully reflected in her spectacular vegetable gardens. She spent hours crafting self-made trellises and pergolas, creating a lush sanctuary where vines climbed and flourished under her care.
She also brought beauty and joy to others through her remarkable talent in Chinese opera, a passion she discovered as a young girl. With the rare ability to sing both male and female roles, she shone brightly on stage and shared her gift with all who had the privilege of hearing her perform.
In 2000, Yin was blessed by the gift of organ donation and received a kidney transplant that gave her many more years of life with her family. This precious gift was a source of deep gratitude and an enduring reminder of grace.
Family was everything to Yin. She was predeceased by her husband in 2017 and is lovingly remembered by her four children—three sons and one daughter—and nine cherished grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her strength, her creativity, her devotion to family, and the joy she brought to those around her.
