LEONOR TAÑADA (95) of Vancouver, BC passed away on January 4, 2021 from a massive stroke that left her comatose. She was born on February 8, 1925 in Carrigara, Leyte a Visayan Region in the Philippines. She moved to Manila when she was a teenager, where she witnessed the horrible results of World War II, from 1941-1944.
She was in Intramuros, Manila while the bombing was taking place during that war. She met her husband in 1949; soon after they were married, started a family, the couple was gifted with six daughters. Sadly, the husband got ill and became bedridden for a while before he passed away in 1966. Being a widow, she went through a difficult time but she managed to raise her six children on her own. She immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada in 1981, and worked there for 9 years before she decided to move to Vancouver, BC in 1990 where she spent the rest of her life with her daughters and their families.
She is survived by daughters Yolanda, Irene, Bertilia, Consolacion, Rebecca and their husbands, 11 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. She was a devout catholic, well known for doing volunteer work in the church and in the community. She will be missed by her family, relatives and friends.
