Hospital, Luba finally let go of our hands when God
offered His. Luba Julia Yaremchuk (nee Pawluk)
left this world peacefully on July 3rd aged 89
wonderful years, having resided mostly in Burnaby
and Edmonton. Luba was born in Skala, Ukraine on
December 24th, 1923 to Dmytro and Anna Pawluk
and spent many happy years on the family farm in
Shortdale, Manitoba until the big city called,
graduating from the Winnipeg Business College.
Luba married Samuel Kut in 1945 and lived in
Burnaby until his passing in 1970. Luba shared
several years with Stan Shouchuk, and married Dr.
Stephen Yaremchuk in 1991 until his death in
2005. Luba was always a gracious hostess, with a
skill and passion for cooking and presentation
which brought delight to those fortunate to share
her table. Her drive and commitment to others
guided her as the head of many organizations in
the Ukrainian-Canadian community as well as
giving her strength for raising a family for many
years as a single parent. Luba was always
generous with her time and anything else she
could muster when her children or grandchildren
needed some help or just a hug from “Baba”.
Never one to look back, she showed us all a great
example of the power of staying positive and
working towards a better future. Luba was
predeceased by her sister Olga Rurak and her
brother Russell Pawluk. Luba is survived by her
sister Dolores Matlashewski, daughters Julia
Shumuk and Darcia Keplin, her sons John Kut and
David Kut, grandchildren Kutrina Mosch, Christie
Kut, Sheila Kut, Anna Kut and Samuel Kut, greatgrandchildren

Mosch. Prayers will be held at Ocean View Funeral
Home, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby on Tuesday

Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 145 E.
10th Avenue, Vancouver, BC, on Wednesday, July
10th at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial
