May 20, 1948 – July 18, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Lucy Tai-Wei Tai (nee Hsu), who died peacefully on July 18, 2026, at the age of 78.
Lucy was born on May 20, 1948, in Taiwan. There, she met and married Jerry Tzu-Chin Tai. Together, they began a new chapter when they immigrated to Canada in 1969, building a life and raising their family with love, strength, and devotion.
Over the years, Lucy and her family made their home in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. She worked for the Bank of Montreal for many years, where she built a fulfilling career and formed lasting connections with colleagues and friends.
In 2006, Lucy suffered a stroke that profoundly changed the course of her life. She resided at St. Michael’s Centre for the remainder of her life, where she received care and support until her passing.
Lucy was predeceased by her father, mother, older brother and older sister. In a poignant coincidence, her older sister passed away in Taiwan on the same day as Lucy, July 18, 2026. She is survived by her younger brother, James (Mindy), and younger sister, Mimi (Ed).
Lucy will be deeply missed by her children, Linda (Tom) and Johnson (Lee Ann), and her four beloved grandchildren, Kieran, Hayley, Alyssa, and Ryan. She will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family, her strength and resilience, and the many ways she touched the lives of those around her.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew and loved her.
May she rest in peace, forever loved and never forgotten.
