He was the 4th of eight children born to parents who were both teachers.
He was academically gifted and graduated from Taiwan University, first in his class, earning a BA in International Trade and Business.
Lung-Sen worked hard in the Taiwanese business world and eventually became the President of an International Trading Company. He married Jane Pi-Yu Liu and they had three children, Kay, Edward and Henry. They enjoyed their prosperous and peaceful family life in 1960’s Taiwan but Lung-Sen felt compelled to seek a better future for the children. He made the pivotal decision to immigrate to Canada and moved his family to Vancouver, BC in 1971.
The family struggled with the challenges of being new immigrants. Lung-Sen had to re-start his career due to his lack of Canadian work experience. He worked in accounting and banking and eventually became the assistant manager of a downtown Japanese restaurant. When the restaurant closed, Lung-Sen went to work in Shanghai, China for a few years but returned to Vancouver where he retired in the 1990’s.
Lung-Sen and Jane settled into grandparenthood and were very active socially. They joined the Taiwanese Haka Association, a choir group and the Taiwanese Evergreen Senior’s Group. They found joy in travelling, singing and socializing with their large group of friends. Retirement life really agreed with them. Lung-Sen even returned to his academic roots and taught English to the members of the Taiwanese Senior’s Association. He also had a passion for classical music and often played the piano and violin.
Lung-Sen’s health declined in his 90’s. He struggled with lung issues and his mobility became challenged but he and Jane continued to live independently, not wanting to burden their children.
He eventually succumbed to a lung infection and cardiac insufficiency on October 30, 2025. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He was 94 years old.
Lung-Sen is survived by his wife, Jane, his children Kay, Edward (Sandra), Henry, his grandchildren, Karen (Will), Andrew (Yena), Ryan, Aaron, Christine (Ryan), Michael (Faranak), Tiffany and his great-grandchildren, Theo and Rose. He will be dearly missed by all.
