Maria Donata Buono

Maria was born August 20, 1935 in Cansano, L’Aquila, Italy, and passed away peacefully in Burnaby, British Columbia on July 12, 2026.

Maria lived a life marked by love, quiet strength and unwavering faith. She devoted herself to her family and community, always placing the needs of others before her own.

Maria was predeceased by her parents Antonio and Angiolina Dilorenzo, her son-in-law Mijodrag, her grandson Luka, and great granddaughter Beaux. Maria is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband Pietro, their children Alfonso (Francesca), Domenico, Gianni (Lisa) and Clara, her grandchildren Natalie (Robert), Peter, Valerie (Chris), Patricia, Justina (Aaron), Stevan (Kayseen), Milos (Chantel), Danica (Steven), Anthony, Kiara, Nick and Mark. And her great grandchildren Anthony, Robbie, Gemma, Alessandra, Alfonso, Cassius, Vesper, Domenic, Valentino, Gianna, Vittoria, Milana, Maksim, Luka, George, Mija, Gianluka, Mattias, Capri, and many other extended family and dear friends. Her greatest legacy is the love she instilled in her family and the example of compassion, humility, and faith she lived each day.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and caregivers at both Mount Saint Joseph Hospital and St. Michael’s Hospice who cared for her with dignity, compassion, and kindness during her final days.

Visitation for family and friends will be held 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at Bell and Burnaby Funeral Chapel, 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby, British Columbia, Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, 555 Slocan Street, Vancouver, British Columbia. Entombment will follow at Ocean View Burial Park.
