Marija Fumic

It is with heavy heart and happy memories that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Marija Fumić. Marija was born in Križpolje, Lika, Croatia and came to Canada in 1965.

Predeceased by her husband Jure, father Miko and mother Anka; daughter Ružica; and siblings Ivan, Mila, Tona, Karlo and Mika. She is survived and will be forever remembered by her brother Nick (Doreen), her daughters Zora (Živko-predeceased), Nevenka (Bepo), and Verica (Ivica-predeceased); her 7 grandchildren George (Marina), Gregory (Cari), Davor (Mary), Daniela (Frank), Nikolina (Matthew), Daniel and Catherine; and her pride and joy her 14 great-grandchildren Nikolas, Ella, Violet, Matteo, Carlo, Angela, Matteo, Tea, Maria, Daniel, Victoria, Luka, Olivia and Tanja. Also, many cousins, nieces and nephews in Canada, Croatia, Australia and Switzerland.

Marija lived a full life based on basic values and priorities being first and foremost her pride, joy and love of her large family. She imparted upon them the importance of faith, hard work, generosity, being strong in challenging times, keeping our Croatian heritage and family first above all else.

Her cooking was truly legendary, and she was proud of her White Spot family where she worked in the commissary kitchen for many years. She was especially happy at Christmas when she decorated the house, set her table with her Old Country Rose dishes and pinwheel crystal. Her welcoming smile, love and home will forever be imprinted in our hearts.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 o’clock Wednesday June 25, 2025 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Croatian Parish, 3105 East 1st Avenue, Vancouver, BC. Entombment to follow at Ocean View Burial Park, South Mausoleum.
