Beloved husband for 69 years to Marica Vukelic. Much loved father of Milan Vukelic (Ruza), Lucija Hestera (Franjo), Jadranka Suric (Marjan), and Srecko Vukelic (Margaret). Cherished Dida (grandfather) of Milana Curkovic (Ivan), Martin Vukelic (Irina), late Kate Vukelic (2017), Josip Hestera (Susy), Martin Hestera (Sytra), Helena Hestera, Emilia Hestera, Marina Brkic (Ante), Nikola Hestera, Magdalena Suric (Dean), Nikolina Suric, Marica Suric, Katarina Suric, Rachael and Madeleine Vukelic. Loving pradida (great grandfather) to Milana, Franjo, Sara, Renata Hestera, Jackson, Olivia, Stella, Sofia Hestera, Martin, Marko Hestera, Jozo, Lucija Brkic, Mateo Suric, Thomas Desautels, and Maximus Vukelic. Also survived by many nieces and nephews from Canada, Croatia, Austria, and Australia.
Martin was born on May 5, 1928 in Donji Kosinj, Lika, Croatia. He was the son of late Pave and Luja (Abramovic) Vukelic. Martin came to Canada with his beloved wife and children in 1965 and set his roots in Vancouver where he raised his family and worked in construction and as a logger.
Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, BC on Tuesday, September 29th, 2020 viewing between 6:00-8:00 pm. A Roman Catholic Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 30th, 2020 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Croatian Parish, 3105 E. 1st Avenue, Vancouver, BC at 10:00 am, followed by Committal Service at 11:30 am at Section: Garden of Fortune, Ocean View Burial Park, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, BC.
