Maurice was born in Hong Kong, the 9th out of 12 children and moved to Canada to attend school, graduating from the University of British Columbia and became a Canadian citizen in 1975. Maurice spent his early years in Canada working a multitude of side jobs, giving him the freedom to travel around and explore his new home before settling in with a long career with the CRA in which he gave 39 years of service.
Maurice was always well known for his friendly smile, good sense of humour, dedication to his work and his compassion to his friends and his family. After retirement, Maurice enjoyed going out to eat with his friends and family but especially loved spending his time being a Grandfather. Maurice also was recently able to accomplish his dream of seeing the Terracotta Warriors in China, as well as visiting Australia for the first time to visit his sister and extended family there.
Maurice will be missed dearly by all who knew him, particularly his children Victor and Rosana, his daughter-in-law Eva, his best friend and grandson Cody, as well as his siblings and extended family.
Maurice will be celebrated by his family and close friends on April 14th, 2026
